I hired Innovative to paint the full interior of my 2-story open-floored townhouse -- walls, baseboards, and ceilings. Their quality was top notch (including wall repairs, baseboard re-caulking, etc.); they were incredibly punctual and their quote came at 40% less than competitors. Definitely...

DGL was punctual, professional, and honest - but I was not happy with the quality of work I received for interior painting. The person Diego used did not seem like he was a regular employee of DGL. They stated that they do not usually do interior painting and it showed, the edges were not...

This was our second project with Closet America and, as before, it was really worth it. Their designer spent at least two hours working with us to design and configure the space and select the materials. Throughout the design and delivery process, the sales and design team kept in touch with...
- Sahar B.
They decided to quit (and break the contract) without finishing even 10% of the work (even though we paid them over 55% of the promised amount). Their reason for quitting was that we didn't agree with every single one of their ideas and we asked for options. Heaven forbid you ask a "designer"...

Tilahun did an outstanding job. He is professional and accommodating. The quality of his end-product was outstanding. T came onsite to assess the job, and used his iPad to show me his previous work and designs to consider for the metalwork. I liked the fact that he was well structured and...

I have never worked with an interior designer before, but I bought a new condo, about 1000 sq feet and I did not want to make any mistakes in this small space. She provided that second voice to help me think about the consequences of one choice over another. What I liked best is that she sent...

It was an awesome experience and I tell everyone interested in doing work in their house to consider Arcbazar. You tell them your "design problem," provide dimensions and/or photos of your place and they work with designers across the world as part of a competition to see who best can solve...

I am a Maryland based Interior Designer who is proud to also be a retired Air Force veteran. I work with my clients with the same passion, integrity, and service that I gave to my country for 21 years. Ronald J Smith Interiors believes great design starts with the ability to listen, understand, and development of relationship with our clients. It is our job to take your thoughts and wishes and go beyond your expectations. I was a Fire Fighter while in the military, so I greatly understood the value and importance of someones home. It is crucial that I bring that same care, energy, and respect into every aspect of our projects. We look forward to working with you.
"He is the fourth designer that I interviewed and was the only one that understood my vision and got me, and that is why I worked with him. He has given me peace of mind with my project, and I'm still working with him and it has been a blessing for me!"

Zoltan Design Co
Zoltan Design Co
Unlike typical interior design companies, we have our own furniture factories located in Los Angeles and Bali. In addition to our in-house woodworking shops, allowing us to take customization to a whole new level. Our full-service capabilities — including CAD and 3-D space planning, color schedules, custom design and fabrication of furniture, contract grade furniture, cabinets and built-ins — mean we can turn any vision into reality.
"Chris Zoltan is the real deal. He is immensely talented and knows what he is doing. I was very nervous throughout the process. The final product by Zoltan Design was striking and distinctive. There were some glitches. For example, the dining chair heights are a bit too low for the dining table. But, overall, I love my living room and dining room space. If you are looking for inexpensive design, this is not the firm for you. Be ready to spend top dollar. If you are looking for quality, vision, and distinctiveness, than you will be satisfied with Zoltan Design."

Our dedicated team works closely with each homeowner, providing personalized design consultations and transparent communication throughout the entire renovation process. "We just had the original kitchen in our 1968 house gutted and renewed by Vienna Prime Custom Kitchen & Bath (Prime Custom). BLUF: We highly recommend you consider them in your due diligence efforts to find a reliable & quality K&B contractor. Good internet reviews were a significant factor in selecting potential bidders for the refurbishment of our kitchen and two full bathrooms; that’s why we are submitting this robust positive feedback. In fact we are putting our money where our mouth is by awarding the refurbishment of our two main bathrooms to Prime Custom. These two combined projects are more costly than the kitchen was. Our procurement strategy was to hold back the bathrooms until they proved themselves with the kitchen. They came through in spades. Our kitchen journey from planning, contracting, detailed design, execution and final delivery was by no means a cakewalk but Prime Custom was an outstanding partner and delivered a quality product. We trust them! Believe me, we were a bigger “PitA” than any customer under the sun but Prime Custom Prime was collectively patient, understanding, informative and most importantly tolerant of their sometimes-antsy interior design challenged clueless customer. Their team, including an involved owner, consisted of Filiz the designer (PC Vienna), Nick the PM (PC Arlington), and several company employed skilled tradesmen in all disciplines, including the après project cleaning crew that were “the Best”. Even with a professional and organized contractor team doing quality work, the vagaries of ripping out and replacing a kitchen is a taxing psychological rollercoaster. Despite a detailed Statement of Work (SoW), there were lots of moving parts with so many big and small decisions throughout the project. Prime Custom did a masterful job “herding cats”. The project was 95% complete in three weeks and we were able to reclaim our new beautifulyl retooled kitchen by the middle of the fourth week. We did our homework. We developed three pages of bulletized line items, one for each room in our SoW. After interviewing a dozen K&B contractors including onsite visits and receiving half a dozen bids on our very comprehensive SoW, we culled the list down to three potential providers. Prime Custom matched the low bid for the kitchen with one contractor and the two bathrooms of another. We decided to go with Prime Custom with the hope of their doing all three rooms after they proved their worth on the kitchen. Our strategy has worked so far. We will update our review after Prime Custom completes the two bathrooms. It pays to be anal in working on home improvement project contracting, no matter how painful."

FAQs for interior design and decorating projects in Merrifield, VA
Most interior designers have at least a four-year degree, if not an advanced degree in interior design. Additionally, many states require interior designers to be licensed. If your state does not require licensing, interior designers can take a licensing exam with the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Overall, licensing requirements vary from state to state, but most licenses require certain education levels and experience to qualify. To check the qualifications of your interior designer, use Angi’s state licensing tool.
The difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator is that the interior decorator focuses on the space’s colors, furniture, art, and finishes. An interior designer goes beyond that to plan and execute layouts, structural changes, and overall functionality in addition to aesthetics that the decorator manages. We recommend hiring an interior designer for major remodeling projects and hiring an interior decorator to establish or enhance your home’s interior style.
On average, hiring an interior designer costs about $8,200, ranging from $200 to $65,000, depending on where you live, the size of your home, and the type of decor. The total price tag of interior design services is based on whether they provide consultation and implementation as well as any specialty design services, such as home staging or digital design mock-ups. Residential interior designers typically charge an hourly rate of $50 to $200 per hour, or up to $500 per hour in areas with high demand.
Hiring an interior designer is often worth the investment, especially for larger projects beyond DIY interior design and project management skills. However, the decision to hire an interior designer depends on your budget and the size of the project. Some benefits of hiring an interior designer include:
Realizing the best layout and decor for optimal functionality of the space for your taste, budget, and lifestyle
Managing your project to keep the job on track and within budget
Assistance with home staging ahead of home sale
Serving as a point of contact for contractors
Accessing discounts from local suppliers
Before hiring an interior designer, ask a few questions to better understand how they work, what’s expected of you, and what they promise to deliver.
How long will the project take to complete?
What type of services do you offer?
Can you provide a project estimate?
Do you work with subcontractors?
Are you licensed or certified in this state?
Do you have a portfolio of previous work I can review?
May I contact your customer references?
How do you handle change orders?
How do you handle payment?
