  9. Reattach the faceplate, plug in your AC system, or turn the breaker back on.

If you let the AC continue running, it will put more strain on the condenser coil and compressor. Plus, if the AC is blowing hot air because of a refrigerant leak, it can also lead to a frozen evaporator coil.
