"I hired Marathon Movers and Construction, managed by Williams Stewart, for a home improvement project, and my experience was profoundly disappointing. Mr. Stewart demonstrated a startling lack of skill and competence throughout. From the start, he admitted to lying about his ability to do the work, leading to numerous blunders: Incorrect Paint: Used the wrong type in several areas, needing extensive correction. Drywall Errors: Applied excessive mud, causing cracking. Unnecessary Work: Filled holes I didn’t request and didn’t paint over them. Poor Preparation: Neglected taping, causing splatters and spilled stains on my stairs. Tool Incompetence: Struggled with a circular saw, cutting carpet and trim incorrectly. General Negligence: He unplugged my freezer, causing the loss of 50 lbs of food. Missed Deadlines: Worked slowly, missing deadlines and causing significant losses. I should have inspected his work better, but I didn’t expect to babysit an experienced contractor."

Most bathroom walls will require two coats of paint, as this ensures proper coverage. If you’re painting over a darker color with a lighter color, you may need additional coats. If you caulk after painting, a few things can happen that you definitely don't want to happen. For one, caulk is messy and can make for an equally messy finish. Second, applying caulk after painting might not provide proper insulation because the paint is underneath the caulk and doesn’t add the same protection as caulk. Third, if you caulk after painting, you'll see the caulk line, which can really detract from the look of your home.

There are times when you should remove all exterior paint before repainting. This includes when you need to get rid of lead-based paint (which should be done by a pro), or if you need to apply a different finish than what’s already there. Your house may also have too many pre-existing layers of old paint, in which case you’ll be better off getting rid of the old layers first.

You’ll want to wait at least two hours before you paint over a freshly applied caulk. This time frame is the bare minimum, however. If you live in a humid region or a cool climate, you’ll need to wait even longer. A good rule of thumb is to wait a solid 24 hours for the caulk to dry to be on the safe side.

Soft and light colors are more common in bathrooms than dark colors, partially because they create a larger sense of space. Clean eggshell paint walls or other neutrals like beige and gray work. Lighter shades of blue and green are also popular bathroom colors. If you want to incorporate dark, bold colors, use them as accents in small places rather than on the entire bathroom.
