JMS Builders & Developers is a Class A General Contractor located in Buchanan, Virginia. The company was founded in 1978. Since inception JMS has built well over 200 custom homes along with a portfolio of commercial projects. At JMS, we believe quality is a top priority and we guarantee our work. "Be very careful. we chose him because he made a big deal about how good his work is and how quickly he can finish projects. JMS started building our home in January of 2019. By October of 2020, he was $100000 over budget and the outside wasn't even completed, additionally, the basement walls were leaking. He spent a year saying he would fix the leaks, then ghosted us. We had to hire a lawyer to get his attention. Now almost 4 years later, the wall is failing and he still refuses to accept responsibility. He gives references who are friends or family. BEWARE."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Determining how many boulders you’ll need for your landscaping project depends on the area you need to cover and how big each boulder is. First, you’ll need to determine how big of an area you want covered, then divide that by the base surface area of the boulders. A landscape professional can help you determine how many boulders will be right for your project.

While organic mulch offers many benefits, it can also attract bugs looking for shelter, food, and water. Insects, rodents, snails, and slugs are often attracted to its decomposing material.

Pea gravel is hands down a top pick for managing landscape drainage.  These small stones allow water to flow through easily by creating natural gaps that promote runoff. Beyond functionality, pea gravel also offers visual versatility. Homeowners will find a range of earthy tones like gray, brown, blue, and even red, making it easy to match with different outdoor styles and plantings.

The best soil to put around a house foundation is fill dirt, which is soil that’s specifically designed for covering large areas and filling in holes. Don’t waste money regrading around your foundation with expensive topsoil. Use topsoil only for the last layer of soil, about 5 to 10 inches, so that when you do your foundation planting, your grass and plants will have the nutrients they need to grow.

Mulch costs an average of $15 to $80 per yard, depending on the type you choose and whether you have it delivered and installed by a pro. Generally, it’s cheaper to buy mulch in bulk and have it delivered to your home. However, bags are the more cost-effective choice if you only have a small area to mulch.
