"I hired A-1 Duct Cleaning Services on two occasions, one a mobile home with a prior mouse infestation within the ductwork. Mr. Thomas was very prompt and thorough with his cleaning, sanitizing and mold remediation. My son, who has allergies, moved into the trailer afterwards and has commented more than once that he has had no problems. Mr. Thomas also cleaned and sanitized the ductwork in my newly-built home. For anyone concerned about the quality of air in their home, I highly recommend A-1 Duct Cleaning Services. You can't put a price on the peace of mind that comes with a clean air system! I'm very satisfied."

"Hard working young pros who overcome unforeseeable obstacles. Did a great job installing our new Bosch dishwasher which required rerouting water and electrical lines. Would hire again in a minute!"

"LeafFilter doesn't clean gutters, they sell and install their LeafFilter Gutter products and only clean the gutters if you buy their product. I can't even begin to afford their product so I wasn't able to get my gutter cleaned by them."

"When I needed to hire someone on short notice to address maintenance deficiencies on the exterior of an uninhabited family house, the Fix It - Handy Man team stepped up and took on the project. They did a great job of resolving all of the deficiencies listed and got the local city inspector off my back. I was so pleased with their quality of work and timeliness on the exterior work that I also hired them to demo the entire interior of that same house to prepare it for the next big project, which will be total rehab and addition. Thanks again to Fix It - Handy Man Services for stepping up and doing such a great job!"

"Angie's List turned up Robin's Cleaning Service as a possible contractor for carpet cleaning. We went with her since she's independent and relatively local (Gretna). She came today, worked hard for over two hours to clean our Master BR and closet, lower staircase and roughly 1/4 of the lower living area, and did a lovely, attentive and thorough job for $225. Very pleasant--does carpets and other cleaning, painting, landscaping, mowing and pressure washing between morning and evening school bus driving for Gretna public schools (all three levels). Just a really sweet lady whom we enjoyed getting to know. If you have odd jobs, give her a chance. Robin Hall, 434-728-0529, is highly recommended! Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Service costs depend on project size and complexity, service scope, and any tough task specifics encountered.

You can always use a homemade vinegar solution as a natural alternative to commercial cleaning products. To make and use a vinegar cleaning solution, fill a spray bottle with equal parts white distilled vinegar and warm water. Spray the solution liberally across the tub surface. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes before wiping it down with a non-abrasive sponge or cleaning cloth, then rinse with clean water. If a line of soap scum is still visible, spray it with the vinegar solution. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush to gently scrub the residue away before wiping it down and rinsing again.

Distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar both work well to clean faucet heads; simply soak the end of the fixture in a 50/50 mix with tap water for 30 minutes. Baking soda and dish soap used in conjunction with vinegar can also help the cleaning process. A commercially available calcium, lime, and rust remover is a good solution for stubborn buildup or stains.

Clean your stainless steel sink at least once a week or after a particularly messy meal prep. Additionally, deep clean your sink twice a month to catch built-up grime, food stains, or hints of rust. Add both basic and deep cleans to your weekly kitchen cleaning checklist to stay on top of any odors, drain issues, or bacteria.

While a biohazard cleanup sounds like a scary process, knowing what to expect can help ease your concerns and set you up for success. It’s good to note that more than one professional might be needed depending on your situation, but that will be determined during the assessment. What you can expect during a home biohazard cleanup is the following:

  • Assessment: The first step in this process is for a biohazard cleanup professional to assess the damage. They create a report that includes the biohazard safety level, the needed damage cleanup, and the time it should take to complete the project.

  • Setup: The cleanup professional prepares the site to prevent cross-contamination and reduce toxicity risk. This process can include tarping and creating decontamination zones.

  • Removal of surface contamination: Any contaminated materials are removed from the area, starting with large materials followed by small ones. The professional can assess any floor-related damage once everything is removed from the site.

  • Salvaging items: The biohazard cleanup professionals assess which items can be saved and which are contaminated beyond the point of saving. Those deemed unsafe will be disposed of immediately.

  • Waste disposal: The next step is carefully disposing of the hazardous waste. Your professional will place the contaminated items in specific containers to keep the contamination from spreading.

  • Disinfection: The house will be disinfected and odor-neutralized. Even more minor details, like light switches and bulbs, will be disinfected so that they do not recontaminate the area in the future.

  • Restoration: Once the decontamination is complete, the last step is to restore the home. This includes repairing the damage to flooring, walls, or even the home's foundation.
