"Very impressed with the team. Randy came to see the deck and work up the estimate. We approved the proposal and he was able to fit us in relatively quickly. The team finished in one day! The deck looks so good. Very much looking forward to using it for the rest of summer and fall."

"Excellent work! At least 1/3 of my roof on the north side had a great deal of moss on it. On much of the rest of the roof there were small amounts of moss along the bottom edge of shingles, and there were patches in scattered places on the main part of the shingles. After Hector and his son cleaned the roof, it looked brand new. They removed plants and furniture from our deck before the job and replaced them after the job. They even did a light washing of the vinyl siding of the house, which was outside the agreed-upon scope of work, but they did not charge me for it. As a former member of a site safety office in a then-Fortune 50 company, I was particularly impressed with the excellent precautions they took to insure their safety on the roof during the job. Hector’s 27+ years of experience was evident in every aspect of the job. I plan to bring him back in a year for annual maintenance. I definitely recommend No More Dirty Roofs to any home owner needing roof cleaning."

"We needed to replace our old wood deck. Overall, great quality of work and price was reasonable. For example, our old deck foundation was on top of the ground, but the workers from New Life Renovations took the time to properly cement the deck foundation. I describe the company as similar to the character Eldin on the show Murphy Brown --- great work, but very slow. We hired them in December 2021 and were told that the new composite deck would be completed prior to December 31, 2021. We were skeptical but still signed the contract. The final deck was not completed until February 2022. Some of the delays were understandable (e.g., worker with COVID-19), but other delays were not (e.g., not ordering building materials). What prevents me from giving them five stars is their poor, unorganized and slow communication. After we signed the contract and provided the initial check, we did not hear again from the original salesperson (Bentley) for the remainder of the project. The company owner (Jamie) was slow to respond to phone calls and never e-mailed us anything, including a detailed work plan. Bottom line, I recommend the company, but try to get the owner to provide detailed instructions to you and his employees."

"I contacted Ferguson Home Improvements to come out and help me get my house ready for sale.  The owner was fabulous and had a very attention to detail approach to fixing the walls and nail pops in the ceilings.  They left the house in pristine condition and everything looked brand new, it made me think twice about wanting to sell the house now that it is in such perfect condition.  He also hung some ceiling fans to replace the old ones.  When I move into my new home I will have Ferguson Home Improvements back to help me with my new projects what ever they are.  They are by far the best home improvement company I have ever dealt with.

"The first job I hired Aaron for was a toilet repair and bathroom faucet replacement. His work was timely and met all of my expectations. Since then he has fixed a leaked under my bathroom sink, basically rebuilt my water heater , and painted my bathroom. Aaron’s work ethic and personality was wonderful and he called after the work was done to make sure I was satisfied. His prices were fair and I will definitely hire him again."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Before installing any materials under the deck for removing moisture, you should perform some prep work on the ground. Work the dirt under the deck to create a grade away from the home. A grade of at least six inches for every 10 feet works well. Do not leave a gap between the dirt and the home’s foundation where water could pool. Once you or a contractor regrades the dirt under the deck, you then can add materials over the top.

Finding a reputable deck builder should start with speaking with a local company and asking for samples of past work and references. You can review the company’s workmanship and speak with past customers to learn what the customer service was like throughout the process. It’s also a good idea to read online reviews and check the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website to see if the company has a history of customer complaints. If you can get a referral from a family member or friend, that’s another great option.

The “best” material is in the eye of the beholder, as each common decking material boasts its pros and cons. Poured concrete is the best budget-friendly option, but composite wood brings high-grade aesthetics without breaking the bank. Wood is the most traditional material, but it requires more maintenance than some other materials. In other words, do your research before settling on a deck material to find the one that’s best for your pool.

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.

A random orbital sander is best for sanding a deck because it is easier to handle than other power sanders and is less likely to damage the wood. Most decks are made of types of softwood, so a gentler sanding process is essential to prevent permanent blemishes. For example, belt sanders can gouge softwoods.
