"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We cannot say enough wonderful things about Universal Siding and Windows! From start to finish, our experience was absolutely outstanding. They replaced all of the vinyl siding and windows on our home, and the transformation is unbelievable. The entire team was professional, dependable, hardworking, and paid close attention to every detail. The quality of their craftsmanship truly shows — they treated our home like it was their own and went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. Not only does our home look beautiful, but we can already tell the difference in the comfort and quality of the new windows and siding. It’s refreshing to work with a company that still takes pride in their work, communicates well, and delivers exactly what they promise. We are beyond happy with the results and would highly recommend Universal Siding and Windows to anyone looking to improve their home. Thank you for giving our home a fresh new look and for such a wonderful experiene"

"The end product was on budget and excellent quality. They were challenged at times by the extreme heat and supply chain issues but in the end, the new, second story, covered deck is complete and we love it! We have already recommended them to family and friends. Thank you."

"Had a full replacement done. Damage was found to the leading boards across the entire front and half of the back. All repairs were done without extra charge. The crew was courteous, friendly, responsive and professional. Quote was slightly higher than one other company and nearly the same as a third quote in the area but the peace of mind that repairs were going to be made without extra charge was well worth it. Also includes a two year service for any issues. Sales person spent two hours in our home giving us the details before we signed the contract. I would strongly recommend."

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

Fascia and soffits differ in their location and design, but fascia vents are the most popular alternative to soffits. These are a bit more hidden than soffits, but depending on the structure of your roof, they can cost more to install and maintain. They are also installed around the entire roof, whereas soffits can be placed only where you need them or, if the aesthetics bother you, somewhere out of sight.

Yes, you can replace just the fabric on an awning without having to replace the entire awning frame and hardware. This process will take a professional about one to two hours. If you want to DIY, it could take longer, especially for large or retractable awnings. Replacing the fabric on an awning can improve the look of your home and help naturally cool your interior and exterior spaces.

Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:

  • Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire

  • Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning

  • Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings

  • Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust

  • Polyester is easy to clean and is a more breathable option

  • Polycarbonate is highly resistant to UV rays and is difficult to damage

There are many materials to choose from, including picket fencing, wood slats, galvanized metal skirting, dog-ear fence panels, scallop wood fence panels, bamboo screens, and other decorative screens. You can search for materials at local big box stores like Home Depot or scour online home improvement sites. Good search terms to use are fencing, skirting, and privacy panels.
