"We were very satisfied. House was shining clean. Very efficient. They were very professional and completed project in timely manner. No complaints. We plan on having service back for another deep cleaning in November. Maybe even regular cleaning if our lady cannot continue to work."

Cleaning questions, answered by experts

While you might get away with once-monthly vacuuming in rooms you hardly use, it’s not ideal in other parts of your home. Your living spaces will look untidy, and leaving all that dirt lying around is not the most hygienic. Plus, the longer abrasive debris sits on your surfaces, the more chance of scratches or damage to carpet fibers.

Unless it’s written into the purchase agreement, there’s no legal obligation that a house you’ve bought has to be clean before you move in. The previous owner is generally required to sweep the house, but that doesn’t guarantee everything will be spotless upon your arrival. If possible, discuss the cleaning requirements with the real estate company before moving in.

To ensure reliability, ask for references and check online reviews. Verify that background checks have been conducted, especially if hiring independently. Working with a reputable cleaning company offers extra peace of mind, as companies often vet and insure their staff. Open communication and clear expectations from the start also help build a trusting relationship.

You’ll often find mildew and soap scum in the same place, but they are very different substances. Mildew is a substance composed of living fungi, whereas soap scum is primarily an accumulation of mineral deposits. Mildew needs chronic moisture to thrive, while soap scum is unaffected by damp conditions (though it is a residue left behind by the water).

There are many different cleaning services available to tidy up and take care of specific cleaning tasks, you may not want to tackle yourself. That allows you to mix-and-match DIY with professional services to get the deep clean you want..

If you’re looking for someone to organize your stuff, you can hire for that, too. For an average of $526, professional organizers can tackle closets, attics, garages, and more, which could be helpful if you’re making major home changes.
