"We had a failed hardwood refinishing project on our hands when we called Prospect flooring. Mike was quick with the estimate, the price was competitive. Jodi called us every day to explain what will happen next day and was great to resolve few little things we encountered. We were so happy with the work performed, that we hired Prospect Flooring again for the second project at our house. Second project included installing engineered food in our basement and replace carpeted stairs with hardwood. Again, work was done with great quality. Prospect flooring worked around our schedule and completed work in 2 days."

"Choosing Wammoth Services again for our gas fireplace maintenance was a no-brainer after our experience last time. Their comprehensive approach and refusal to rush through the job underscored their professionalism. Remarkably, they fixed our blower, avoiding unnecessary costs, which spoke volumes about their integrity and expertise! The team's meticulousness shone again when they found and repaired two small leaks at no extra charge, demonstrating their honesty. The glass was cleaned so well, the fireplaces looked brand new, absolutely beautiful. Their friendly and personal touch, remembering details about me and acknowledging my referrals, made the service feel especially tailored and considerate. Wammoth Services excels with their expert care, customer-first attitude, and genuine integrity. They're the clear choice for anyone in need of dependable fireplace maintenance. Highly recommend for their exceptional service and trustworthiness."

For quality painting services you can trust and afford call JC Custom painting. Located in Woodbridge VA we proudly serve all of Northern Virginia and the Washington DC Metro Area for nearly a decade.

"Edwin reassured me that he was up for the job. He and his guys worked tirelessly from a Friday to Monday morning, completely tearing down and rebuilding my ceiling. It was done impeccably and passed inspection and the house sold. Edwin kept me in the loop every step of the way, was punctual and professional. He really helped me in a bind and the price was competitive. I have since used him and his company for multiple projects to include room and shelves painting, removal of built-ins (after which he reconstructed trim where the built-ins had been to match the rest of the room perfectly), garage door and trim painting and hiding wires for nanny cameras and reconstructing/painting drywall. I have never been disappointed. I give him my strongest recommendation. He is highly skilled and worthy of your time."

Bull Run Kitchen and Bath is a family owned and operated business serving the VA metropolitan areas. We are dedicated to providing professional service and work hard to ensure that our clients needs are being met on time and on budget.

"Bull Run Kitchen and Bath completed two bathroom renovations in my home. They did an excellent job. The designer, Salih Coskun, went above and beyond from start to finish. In many ways he served as the project manager, never overlooking any detail. I am very grateful for his dedication and creative eye. The workers were wonderful. They did exacting work and the results were fabulous. The weakest link was the actual project manager, Murat, who did not do a good job of planning when to order supplies or scheduling which resulted in the project taking much too long to finish. The results, however, compensated for the process. Everyone who has seen the bathrooms has raved about them. They are truly gorgeous."

Dream Builders is locally owned and operated in Fredericksburg, VA. We specialize in custom decks, porches and patios. Our craftmanship shows from our design to the finished product. All estimates are free and low pressure. We offer 3D drawings of all projects. Call us today, or visit our website to request an estimate.

"For those who don't want to read this whole thing: We don't recommend dream builders and suggest you use a different company. We hired dream builders to replace the back porch on our house. We wanted to move from wood to the more permanent and long lasting Trex building materials. We also wanted stairs to the ground which we did not have on our porch. We were thrilled with the initial presentation. We hired them for, what was for us, a pretty large project. We were very disappointed and wish we had gone with a different company. - dream builders does not employ the workers. Our project was sub-contracted to a carpenter who sub-contracted to the workers he brought every day. On any given day, we had no idea who was coming to our house. We rarely saw an employee of dream builders. - In the demolition stage of our project, the crew ripped through both our underground downspouts and our sprinkler system requiring both to be repairs. I was informed that the contract requires me to put flags were all of those are located throughout the yard. Since I didn't, they are not responsible for the damage. I have no earthly idea where all of the sprinkler lines are laid throughout the yard. I find it hard to believe the workers couldn't stop when they felt a little resistance so they could determine if the item was important and fragile. It seemed lazy and unprofessional. It also seemed like a fine print scam. - We made an adjustment to our plan as the project got started (moving where the stairs reach the ground). We were provided a picture of what that adjustment would look like. When the stairs were about 1/2 way done, it looked nothing like what we expected. The stairs now were going to terminate right in the middle of our patio opening. We protested and we were told that the picture couldn't look exactly like the finished project; it was just an estimate. ??!!?? Are you serious? Even if that is the case, which I don't believe, we were never informed that such a result was a possibility. We were then charged more for them to correct what I fully believe was their error. Though they came down some in the cost they intended to charge us, from this point on we felt uneasy about the project and again scammed. - Included in our project were lights for the stairs to illuminate the steps. The finished project looked ridiculously amateurish. The wires were strung up under the wood panels with simple nails and remained totally visible. The power box was simply placed on a couple of nails driven into our siding. Nothing was wired into the house or stored in such a way as to look nice. It looked like I could have done it myself on a weekend project. Again, we protested and were told that the job they did was standard procedure. They don't employ an electrician and what we were asking for was both unrealistic and expensive. For the size (and cost) of our project, it deserved to look better. - Speaking of the electric box, the lights were merely plugged into our outdoor outlet. I asked of the safety of such an arrangement and was surprised it could even pass code. I was again told it was standard procedure. I was later told (by a contractor I trust a whole lot more than these guys) that the arrangement was neither safe nor up to code. He fixed it for us while doing another project (free of charge, BTW). - We had the wood posts under our deck wrapped to look nicer. Some of the posts were a bit taller than the wraps however and the wraps were not secured; they could slide up and down. This was also fixed by the same subsequent contractor (still free of charge). - the project did not actually meet code initially. The carpenter did not install 2 x 8 beams under the bottom of the porch for extra stabilization. This was corrected but it makes me wonder where else they cut corners. Speaking of which, while building the upper landing for our stairs, we saw a small chunk of wood fly off as a result of being hit with a nail gun. Rather than replacing the board that now had a piece missing, the worker just kept on nailing. Agin, we were assured the piece was not structurally required and nothing was wrong with the board. In the end, the porch and stairs are completed and look adequate structurally. I have little doubt that they will last and I have no concern with my family being out there from a safety standpoint. That's the end of the good news. The process cost far more than we thought it should have for the work they did. The communication and interaction with the company was substandard. I did not appreciate having our project subbed to someone who then subbed it out again. We felt cheated out of money for their design flaw. The accessories look no better than doing it myself (we hire other people for a reason). We paid them a significant amount of money (at least for us) and it constantly seemed like they were trying to cut corners and maximize their profit instead of focusing on a great finished project. I wish we had gone with someone else."

We are a family-owned company servicing the DC area since 1999 and we are committed to fair pricing, quality workmanship and timely completion. We have a large selection of stones from natural to man-made stones to choose from. We are a certified Silestone, Caerstone and Cambira fabricator. So call us to visit our showroom. We'll help you to save on some of the most beautiful exotic stones from around the world. We offer excellent value and superior service, compare us to any of our competitors and you'll see the difference, and we can beat any written estimate

"Everything went very well. The office staff (Karen and Trevor) and measurer (Albert) were very easy to work with and they answered all our questions before we started the job. When Albert did the measurements, he explained what could happen given our situation with the backsplash tile and the installer (Roberto) said the same thing before his crew started the installation. Roberto and his crew did an excellent job and was able to work with the backsplash situation to make everything fit and look great without having to remove any of the backsplash tile. It was nice to have an installation crew who were very experienced and knowledgeable and had all the right tools and supplies to do the countertop installation and the plumbing to install both sinks. If I ever need this type of service in the future, I will definitely give them a call."

Hardwood Flooring questions, answered by experts

Fredericksburg homeowners can hire general flooring contractors for most installations, while hardwood specialists focus on refinishing and restoring wood floors. Tile installers are skilled with ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone, and carpet installers handle both residential and commercial projects. Restoration experts are especially valuable for historic properties, ensuring new floors meet local preservation guidelines and blend with existing architectural details.

Helpful?

In Fredericksburg, choosing flooring that stands up to humidity and temperature shifts is essential. Luxury vinyl plank and engineered hardwood are popular for their moisture resistance and stability, especially in living areas. For basements or historic homes, ceramic or porcelain tile is ideal due to its durability. Always use moisture barriers and proper underlayment to address Fredericksburg’s seasonal dampness and protect your investment.

Helpful?

Be cautious of quotes in Fredericksburg that lack detailed breakdowns or use vague material descriptions. If a contractor skips a site visit, avoids moisture testing, or doesn’t inspect your subfloor, it’s a warning sign. Also, watch for professionals unfamiliar with local historic requirements or who can’t provide recent, local references. Reliable contractors will offer clear, written estimates and demonstrate knowledge of Fredericksburg’s unique flooring needs.

Helpful?

In Fredericksburg, hidden costs often arise from subfloor repairs, especially in older or historic homes where moisture or unevenness is common. Mold remediation, asbestos or lead paint containment, and extra prep for historic district requirements can add to expenses. Adjustments to baseboards, doors, or HVAC vents may also be necessary, so it’s wise to ask contractors about potential surprises before work begins.

Helpful?

In Fredericksburg, signs like cupping, crowning, or warping in hardwood, loose or cracked tiles, and persistent musty odors often indicate underlying moisture or subfloor issues. Squeaky, soft, or uneven spots may signal structural concerns, especially in older homes. Addressing these early—particularly in historic properties—can prevent more extensive repairs and help maintain the integrity of your flooring investment.
