We needed installation of interior French doors for a home office. The scope of the project included removal of existing casement/trim, installation of pre-hung French doors, and re-trim. We sought three estimates from local companies and found Consumer Construction most responsive to our needs. Installers were professional and were meticulous in ensuring no related damage to walls or hardwood flooring taking a craftsman approach to their work.

The roofing working Consumer Construction did in 2011 was excellent. They came at the time they said they would. They tore off the old roof and replaced two sheets of plywood at a very minimal cost. They cleaned up perfectly and were finished in a day. This January (2021) we went into the our garage roof to get boxes to put Xmas trees away. In one section, the boxes were wet. I found this last Friday. I called on Monday gave told them that although it was 10 years ago I thought we had a warranty. No arguments, no hemming and hawing, no was this your fault. Instead, yes sir we support our warranty. I will have my best man at detecting the source of the leak on Wednesday. Manuel showed up exactly when I was told he would come. He checked inside and outside and found shingles and part of the peak had to be replaced on the roof. He used a blower to get pine needles off the roof so they would not effect the adhesive. He cleaned all the debris up and finished everything in two hours. There was no charge for anything. And he left, thanking us for our business. I wish that every company had this attitude. This is a local business in the DC area and I would recommend them to you without question.

Very happy with Consumer Construction. Ken provided a timely and reasonable estimate. Some companies were not willing to come out unless we wanted a new deck. The crew, Alex and Gary, were excellent. The workmanship was great and they constantly communicated with us. Definitely would hire them again.

Supervisors were professional and technically expert. They inspected the work periodically during the process. Problems with the installation were idetified and corrective action taken. Areas where there was rotted wood were replaced. Yard was cleaned after work was completed. Project took about one week.

From the initial contact with Mark Mohay, Sales Manager, the process went smoothly. Mark and Ken Ayer, owner of Consumer Construction, worked with us in finalizing the contract. We wanted a few changes from the form contact, and both were amenable and helpful in resolving a few issues. Having had bad experiences with construction contractors before, we were particularly concerned that a time be established for beginning work, and that once started, work would continue without interruption until completed. Within three weeks of signing the contract and putting down the deposit, materials were delivered and work was started. We just can't give enough kudos to Juver and his crew for their exemplary work. The job was completed in eight working days. The crew was ready to start in early morning, and on some days worked 10-12 hours. This was in the middle of summer, and on many days in which the temperature rose to nearly 100 degrees. We were very impressed with the way the crew worked together in a highly efficient and cooperative manner. The quality of the work is exceptional in every respect. Juver worked with us closely throughout the job, and offered a key suggestion which added immensely to the appearance of the house. Based on our experience from beginning to end, we are happy to recommend Consumer Construction.

Everything was fantastic! Consumer Construction was extremely responsive and took all of our ideas for our new deck and made it into a reality. The deck is beautiful! It's the nicest one in our neighborhood! We love it, and we'll definitely be hiring Consumer Construction again.

Our bay window had water damage, and we were looking to repair some indoor drywall water damage as well. We were looking to replace all the wood outer wood of the window, and not just replace a bad spot. After 20 years the bay window had some rotted wood and was looking a bit ragged. Everything went very well. The representative that came over to talk over the repairs was on time, courteous, and willing to answer any questions. I was able to ask questions about upgrading from wood replacement to pvc board, and what the costs and long-term benefits would be. We also had the kickplate under the door replaced. They were very good about letting us know when they could get to the job and called ahead to let us know when they were planning to be out. We also had the inner wall of our stairwell repaired. There had been some water damage at the top and in the corner, and they were able to repair and repaint the wall that we couldn't have reached ourselves. The replacement of the weather-worn wood under the soffits was replaced, caulked, and painted. They really look nice. Everyone was polite, on time, and were motivated to come in and get the job done. We are very happy with the results. Everything looks great.

It was very good. Price, responsiveness was good. Only thing was the clean up. Our attic was a mess. Other then that they were very good.

Good - They were so good working with me to get me the right product. They replaced the roof in two days and did a great job. Bad - For some reason they removed my attic fan and left the power wire capped but hanging lose in my attic. I assume I don't need a fan as it is very drafty up there anyway. My only beef is that they never responded to my emails to explain what happened. Granted I never called them so I can't really ding them too much, but its still a little annoying.

Pros: I had Consumer Construction do an entire outside renovation to my home. We obtained quotes from CC as well as other companies like Window World, Lowes, and Home Depot. Though CC as not the cheapest option, coming in about 10% more expensive than their competition, they were the best option for our project. The reasons is CC was able to project manage all of the work and get it done quickly with a high attention to detail. We purchased a foreclosed home in Ashburn that was never maintained well by the previous tenants. As such we had to replace all the doors, windows, gutters, siding, house wrap, and molding around the property. On top of that we had to tear out the old deck as it had become recently infested with termites and carpenter bees. We replaced the the wood deck with a large stone patio. For such a large project the lead time was long, about 3 months from payment in July to starting at the end of October. The entire install process took about a month with some days getting missed due to bad weather. The install team was amazing and CC's foreman did an excellent job in running down the punch list and keeping his staff on schedule. We also ran into a lot of issues during the build due to the lack of maintenance the property had. We had to replace the entire front bay window of our house. The team did an excellent job in getting the front torn down and rebuilt in one day. They then spent an additional couple of days doing the finishing work and trim work. Another major issue was due to the incorrect installation of the deck. Water had gotten between the beams that connected to the house, which caused a lot of rot at the base of the house. The CC team was able to address all of these concerns which not only improved the longevity of the home, but reduced the musty smell in the home and the number of insects we've seen inside. Speaking to this work after 2 months (Writing this review at the end of January 2019), we are incredibly happy we went with CC. The work has stayed solid through high wind storms and the house is noticably warmer. Our energy bill cut in half from about $400 a month to just around $200 a month. My only regret is that I did not have them do the work on my kitchen. That said I will be contacting CC later for our master bathroom project we intend to tackle this year. If you can work directly with James, he's a pleasure to work with and delivered a great product. He can do the sales ordering as well as act as foreman for your project. Request him specifically. Cons: The sales rep (Greg) should provide more accurate timelines. His original estimate for starting the work was 4 weeks from payment. It took 3 months to get all the materials needed for our job. I was ok with that timeline, but it wasn't clearly communicated to us. We were getting very concerned since CC requires a 50% upfront payment before committing to work. After 2 months we were getting extremely concerned that our money was gone. We had to threaten to request a refund before we were finally escalated to James who took over the project and knocked it out of the park. Additionally make sure that the sales rep orders everything correctly. Greg talked us into getting a French door over a sliding glass door for the basement. We agreed it would give us more room to bring large items into the house. When he ordered the door he purchased a "double door" which looked correct on the order form. When we got it, only one side of the door would open. He then went on to insult our intelligence saying "Well a French door isn't exactly what you think, this could still be considered a french door". Consumer Construction was not willing to work with us on this error stating they would not eat the cost of the door (Approximately $3000). They gave us $1000 discount on the door and we moved on, otherwise they didn't want to continue working until the issue was resolved. The door is fine, and it fits our style, but it wasn't what we ordered and we aren't very happy they made us eat the cost of a door we didn't want.

We live in a townhome, and our roof was aging. We had three estimates and Consumer Construction was well in line with the other estimates. Everything went very well, and the roof looks wonderful. Consumer Construction was easy to work with, no high-pressure sales, and I felt like I was well informed as to materials, pricing, warranties, and procedures they were offering. They did a great job keeping us informed of arrival times, weather delays, and I felt comfortable asking questions and getting straight answers. They were all very professional, and the crews were careful of our lawn, professional, cleaned up well, and looks to have done a great job. Very impressed.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. We contacted this company in Oct 2017 to have damaged corner trim siding replaced on house with G8-coil . Work was poorly done on or about 4/20/18. In 4/24/18 email, Mark {last name removed}, Sales Mgr., stated, agreed and confirmed with pictures we sent to him confirmed the work needed to be redone. Crew came by on 4/27 but did not resecure the trim, did not have another piece G8-coil but wanted to put on another kind which was not acceptable. Additionally, the workers were difficult to work with and difficult tocommunicate with. We have pictures of the poorly done work of this company. Mark sent another email on 4/27 that he was out of town and would be back the next week stating he would swing by to inspect and determine what needed to be done. Mark came back into town, never came to inspect the work but sent an email stating: " in lieu of revisiting job site they would be refunding our deposit and terminating the relationship". We would not recommend this company to anyone but less can they be trusted.

We could not be happier with the way this project turned out. We have used Consumer Construction for prior smaller exterior projects. This was the largest project we've used them for. They demolished a rotting multi level deck and replaced it with a covered wood porch with 4 skylights and a new wood deck. Everyone at Consumer Construction, including Mark, Rob, Ken (the owner) were an absolute pleasure to work with. Because we have a challenging lot that backs to woods, this project required a lot of creativity. Consumer Construction demonstrated flexibility, while maintaining an eye on the details all along the way. They were also incredibly responsive when we added further complications by changing the specifications from 2 skylights to 4 in the middle of construction. We have received so many compliments from our neighbors that the porch and deck seem to seamlessly blend into the house and nestles into the surrounding woods. The porch and deck are constructed from high quality pressure treated pine. The quality of the construction is outstanding from the major framing down to the finishing carpentry details. Consumer Construction is definitely our go to contractor for any exterior work.

The salesman said four half-days, and it ended being close to five full days, but the quality of work is outstanding. Their main Carpenter / Handyman, Pat, did the work on our house as if he was working on his own. He works methodically and carefully, and always left the work area dust-free each night. He never left for the day until he had finished the job for the day, so he could start anew the next day, and not have to finish a half-done job in the morning.
