"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

"I absolutely agree with the other reviews of the work of DIY Kitchen and Bath. Frank and his team were punctual, stayed true to their estimate and time frame for starting and completing the job, and did fantastic work! When Frank came to my condo to see the work I wanted done and provide me with an estimate, he listened to my wants and to my budget. He provided a great and budget conscious solution to updating my kitchen (paint, kitchen cabinets and countertops, doors). He and his team also did some grout work in my bathroom. I was extremely impressed with the time they took to cover my appliances in my kitchen, the floor, as well as hang plastic to seal off the hallway and living room from the kitchen. Each day that I came home, I realized that they had cleaned up the work from the day. I was surprised and pleased to say the least! I emailed them the day before the last day work was to be done. I told them that I had forgotten to ask if they could reattach a tile on my bathroom floor that had loosened a while back. Frank responded immediately and said that they had already noticed the tile and his guys were going to fix it that day. I will call DIY Kitchen and Bath without hesitation for any future work that I have done in my house!"

"Everything seemed fine until the crew arrived. They were late, but the scheduler did call about 45 minutes after the arrival time to let me know. The minute the leader stepped into my house, he began complaining that the job was not as he was told, and then began quizzing me all about the communication I had with the scheduler. I had to tell him the details given to me about the estimate. He then told me that he would have to charge extra to move some of the furniture (not what the scheduler had said). He then demanded that I show him the emails exchanged with the scheduler, as if I had been lying to them. The complaining made me so uncomfortable, that I told him to leave if he didn't feel he could do the job. He said no, that he would do it, but then went outside to call the scheduler himself. We proceeded to move most of the furniture ourselves, just to expedite the process. I then received a call from the scheduler, who hinted that I had mislead her as to how big the rooms were, although I had given her actual square footage specifications. She finally said ok, they would do the job as agreed, but that they had to do some extra space in a hallway, and had to charge an additional fee. At this point, I was stuck, as the crew had already begun working. The bottom line is that the work quality itself was good, but the level of professionalism was poor. Customers should never be pulled into internal disputes, and inadequate job scoping is not the fault of the customer."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Using too much soap or floor cleaner can leave your laminate floors looking dirty or cloudy after mopping. Only use a teaspoon of soap or cleaning solution in a gallon of water. Additionally, always be sure to sweep or vacuum laminate floors before mopping to ensure you pick up dried grit, hair, and dust that can be harder to catch with a wet mop.

Clean with a damp mop, avoid excess water, and use furniture pads to prevent scratches.

Sheet vinyl is the cheapest DIY flooring, depending on the brand, style, and quality you choose. Not only is it one of the most affordable flooring products on the market, but it is also easy for most homeowners to install, as it only requires cutting, trimming, and gluing down to the existing floor surface. Some sheet vinyl manufacturers make a loose-lay sheet vinyl flooring that does not even need to be glued.

Carpet squares, tile stickers, painting or stenciling existing tile floors, and painting existing concrete flooring are also affordable options for DIY flooring.

If the stairs are already covered in carpet, you will need to remove the old carpet and possibly the carpet pad. Any damage to the stairs like cracks, loose boards, or creaky treads may also need to be repaired. You may also want to sand and refinish or paint wood stairs before installing a carpet runner.

Installing carpet on stairs involves a lot more cutting, tucking, tack strips, and time. The shape of your staircase, along with the material and construction of the carpet you’re installing, will also increase the cost. Carpet installation on stairs will cost $400 to $800 in total, but it can go as high as $2,500 for difficult staircases, such as wrap-around, upholstered, or spiral staircases.
