"Awesome experience, can't say enough!!! Very responsive, and he was at the house within 20 minutes of us requesting a quote for hauling away a large load of brush and debris. Once we agreed on a price, he was back with the trailer within an hour and loaded it all up. This was on a Saturday at 9:30 at night, and also Memorial Day weekend. Whenever I need lawncare, landscaping, or anything related to that, I know who to call. As a small business owner myself, I appreciate the responsiveness, fair price, honesty, and hard work. Especially with how hard it is to find reliable work these days. If you go anywhere else you are making a mistake. Best company on the Lynchburg area!!!"

Customers say: True professional

"Father Paver did a highly professional and superb job build an in-ground firepit and patio for my yard. They were very meticulous to meet my specifications and expectations and it was a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend them, and I intend on using them in the new year for follow-on work in other parts of my property."

"We were looking to have landscape lighting installed at our residence and received two quotes. We met and discussed the job with Daniel and received a quote from Blue Ridge Landscape Lighting. Their competitor's quote was significantly higher, and had what we felt were forced on-going maintenance fees, currently at around $500 per year. In order to get their lights, the competitor's contract required this maintenance. We made the decision to contract with Blue Ridge Landscape Lighting, and we could not be happier. Daniel kept us updated throughout the project and even completed the job ahead of schedule. The end result was beautiful. It is exactly what we wanted. Blue Ridge Landscape Lighting was found to be reliable and trustworthy. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a quality product at a reasonable price. We have no regrets on selecting this company."

"Trevor was extremely knowledgable, polite, and punctual. He put in some white azalea and orange barbary bushes for me in an area where I had some unsightly golden mops removed. He had done the research to get me the best fit, and he did a great job educating me on their care. 5 gold stars"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can absolutely transplant bushes instead of removing them completely. The success depends on the size of the bushes, their age, and the transplanting season. Ideally, transplant during the dormant season (late fall or winter). Dig out the entire root system in one piece, fill the new hole with fresh soil and mulch, and water thoroughly after planting.

During the fall, you’re likely to see foliage in stunning shades of orange, red, yellow, and brown. These colors emerge because of a seasonal decline in the pigment chlorophyll that makes leaves green.

Plant a peach tree right at the end of your local dormancy period, likely at the very end of winter after the last frost when you can dig into the soft soil. Plan your backyard gardening season, including when planting peach trees, based on the frost schedule predicted in your local hardiness zone.

The best time to plant a tree is in the spring, so the roots have time to grow into the surrounding soil before winter sets in. Some people recommend planting in the late fall. However, planting in the spring reduces the stress on the tree, as it will be emerging from dormancy, giving it the full spring and summer ahead to acclimate and put down roots into the soil.

Unless it only rains once in a blue moon where you live, you’re going to want water-loving plants in your garden bed or pot. A few ideas for plants that aren’t super fast-growing (meaning they’re good in pots or near foundations) and can handle a lot of standing water include:

  • Acorus (Sweet flag)

  • Colocasia esculenta (Taro or elephant ear): In many climates, these are annuals, making them less desirable because you need to adjust the chain again after each replant.

  • Equisetum scirpoides (Dwarf horsetail rush): non-dwarf varieties of horsetail are fast growers and can take over quickly.

  • Juncus effusus (Curly rush)

  • Osmunda regalis (Royal fern): Royal fern can grow quickly but can also handle being crowded, making them good container plants.
