"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Greg followed up within minutes of my request on Home Advisor. He scheduled an appointment before the weekend and came to check our water heater and replaced it the same morning. Quality work for a very reasonable price (lower than expected based on internet research we had done). I highly recommend Skyline Design and Build and would be happy to use them again in the future."

"We had an extremely positive experience with Ayden. He built a deck for us and his work was exceptionally efficient, careful, clean, and of a high quality. He communicates well and takes the time to explain the process to us. Highly recommended! I will call him again for future projects!"

"The job came out looking good, but there were some problems...a broken light fixture, (repaced by Matthew) busted water hose nozzle and a busted bed out of MY wheelbarrow. Matthew also required all money before the job was finished, which should not be the case. However, I am happy with the work performed, and Matthew was very personable and easy to work with. He should take a look, though at how he goes about asking for payment in the future, after the job is done."

"Awesome work ethic and attention to detail. Brandon took our vision of what we wanted our kitchen and new floors to look like and brought it to life. He was very thorough and made sure everything was exactly the way we wanted it. He gave us realistic expectations and was very honest about timeframe to completion of the job. His team were very clean and during the work process maintained a clean environment carefully getting up dust and demo materials before leaving the job. He was also very respectful of our dog who lives in our home while his team worked. I highly recommend his services to anyone looking for remodeling and restoration of the home. We look forward to hiring Brandon and his team for future projects at our home."

Closets questions, answered by experts

You can modernize an old-looking closet by just painting it, but beyond that, consider electric elements like recessed or accent lighting. If this is a large and deep closet, you can consider adding an island to the middle or a nice ottoman on a rug. Luxury closets will have even more items, like felt-lined drawers for watches and jewelry, in-wall safes, electronic shoe storage, or a tablet catalog of their items.

Built-in furniture maximizes space, offers a tailored look, and enhances room functionality.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.

Fortunately, there are no hard and fast rules or regulations regarding the height of closet shelving. However, the typical height for a single closet shelf with a hanging bar is 70 inches from the floor. For a double-hanging system, use 84 to 85 inches from the floor for the top one and 42 inches for the lower.

Yes, books are typically heavier than clothes, unless you have a collection exclusively of paperbacks or comic books. That’s why packing lots of books warrants careful planning and consideration. Consider packing up your reading collection first to determine whether you need to downsize it before loading it into your moving truck.
