"Perfect. I enjoyed getting to sit in the storm shelters at their showroom to help with size selection. After signing up for the install, they connect you to an online portal to manage the contract and to update building permit number, etc. Installation was prompt and clean."

Southwest Sunroom & Window Co. was established in 1980 and is a Class A home improvement contractor that provides quality service to Salem, Roanoke, Lynchburg, Vinton, Smith Mountain Lake and surrounding New River Valley areas. As your home improvement contractor, we will devote our full attention to your project. Our professional team maintains a high standard for craftsmanship, management and customer satisfaction.

"Terrible customer service experience over a job that took twice as long as originally planned. I left messages for weeks and weeks for management to call me back. When I finally did get a manager on the phone they were argumentative and unapologetic about my frustrations. It seems like this company has too many customers and not enough staff to serve them. Very disappointing-- especially for a local company."

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"I had a bad computer board in my oven. they said they would not cover it because they found a roach. This is Florida we have some roaches. i do not have a bug problem. It has nothing to do with a bad computer board. This company looks for a way to deny claims. i had one other claim and they tried to deny it as well. Save yourself some agravation and stay away. They must post their own positive reviews. They took my $65.00 fee and did nothing"

KLM Builders is a Sole Proprietary company. Being a "General Contractor" enables us to handle all of the job by subcontracting certain fields and overseeing all work. KLM Builders holds a Class B contractors license (2705 024912) issued by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. "no professionalism..cigarette butts left on property, no tarps put on new floor when requested by me, resulting in globs and specks of drywall mud left to harden on my new floor, and when one was put down, it was filthy. all in all, sloppy, amaturish work, but most of all, the owner of KLM refused to attend to rusting screening that was put up less than six months agoby him in the porch, which is a safety hazard to children and pets, especially. he told me there was "nothing he could do about that.""

We've been serving Lynchburg, VA & surrounding counties since 1996. BTB Construction does not use sub-contractors for any of our main services. We accept all major credit cards. We have a A+ Better Business Bureau rating & Gold Star rated. We are a Preferred Contractor for GAF, Owens-Corning, Certainteed, Rusco, Lomanco, Mule-hide, & Many other Manufacturers.

"Very poor organization. they utilized sub-contractors for the entire project and and when problems arose (siding falling off / siding installed over attic vent / they were to wrap the house w/ Tyvek (which I paid extra for) they did not do the entire house / ordered alum-deck rails and they installed PVC (have to have them remove the PVC and install what was detailed in the contract / roof ridge cap blew off and it was not storm related (the tek-screws they used were not long enough to penetrate the wood - I had to have another contractor review and advise on correction methods).....................I just moved into the area and did not know any GC's and thought this firm was professional - my $50+ thousand dollar MISTAKE."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you should cap unused chimneys to prevent damage caused by invasive critters, downdrafts, and moisture build-up. This method of capping a locked-off chimney will properly secure the structure and help maintain its integrity for years to come. Consult a chimney professional about the best type of chimney or flue cap to add to your chimney.

Roofers most often use nails to fasten roofing shingles and other roofing materials. Nails have more holding power than staples and offer better weather resistance and longevity. However, it is possible to use staples instead of nails when installing a roof. Staples are less expensive, but not as high-quality.

Though roof coatings can last up to two decades, it’s a good idea to recoat your roof every four to six years. This is especially important if you have a built-up roof, which is vulnerable to moisture issues. Inspect your built-up roofs annually to make sure they don’t need a new coat.

Underlayment is used between existing shingles and a new metal roof to prevent friction and wear from the shingle granules on the underside of the metal. The underlayment also helps prevent water intrusion and allows expansion and contraction without wearing away at the roofing material.

If you’re looking for a cost-effective alternative to a traditional chimney, consider having a dummy chimney installed. Dummy chimneys can either be aesthetic-only or fully functional and can be installed on both new and older homes. Whether installed to match your neighborhood’s aesthetic or to vent your chimney, dummy chimneys are made out of a Glass-Reinforced Plastic (GRP) core, then covered with brick or stone slips to look like a traditional chimney.
