Family Owned and Operated for over 25 years. We specialize in chimney cleaning/sweep, cap and screen installation, and chimney inspections. All of our cleanings include an inspection. Please call for quote over the phone

"Our house was filling with smoke when we lit a fire so we called for service thinking we had creosote buildup clogging the flue. It turned out the damper was stuck in the closed position causing the smoke. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue and even returned on a weekend day to complete the job. The only issue is that with our first fire, the house again filled with smoke and I placed a call back to inquire what his thoughts were on the matter and he never returned my call. Ultimately, we decided it was downdrafts causing the smoke and we have been able to enjoy our fireplace since without incidents. Cost $100"

"We used Aqua Pros to put in a new liner and resurface our pool steps. At first the customer service from the sales rep was great (when trying to get our business). The step resurfacing took place June 21st. I reached out about areas needing to be touched up and was told he would be back in touch. After 5 days I had to reach out again to follow up as I hadn't heard anything. Then June 27th the liner was put in and the second coat was done on the steps. There were still two areas we noticed the next day when it dried that looked like they scraped something across it. The service guys also poured the dirty sand water and liner pieces into my garden bed and left the junk there for us to clean up!! They also had said they would schedule the water hauling company to come back the following week to fill the pool the rest of the way up. I again reached out and I was told the service manager would reach out about the garden bed and steps. They also said they were trying to get the water company back out. After two more weeks we got someone else to fill up the pool with water bc at this point it had turned green bc it wasn't high enough to reach the filters. This caused us over a week of dealing with having to get the chemicals balanced right to get the pool water to normal levels and clarity. They tried to say the service guys were given "the thumbs up" on the steps even though we weren't home when they finished them. My husband saw them while they were working and gave a generic "it's looking good", so I guess they tried to use that as the all clear. He had then left to go back to work while they continued working on the steps. Several more emails, phone calls, and a stop at their Bedford location and now it is Aug 2nd and we have yet to be contacted by the service manager!! I guess once they received our $12K they figured they didn't have to provide us with the touchups or to make things right about the flower bed. We will never use them again!!"

FAQs for chimney sweeping projects in East Lexington, VA

While it’s possible to sweep your own chimney, it’s usually not a good idea for two reasons. First, inexperienced DIYers are more likely to miss areas of the chimney, which still leaves the risk of house fire due to the remaining residue. Second, chimney sweeping seems like a simple process, but it’s highly dangerous. Soot and creosote are both carcinogenic and can cause breathing issues and lung damage. If you don’t take the same safety precautions that professionals do, you could be putting yourself at risk of serious bodily harm.

You should plan to ask your chimney sweeper questions about the cleaning process they intend to use, the project timeline, and more to get a sense of which professional is right for the job:

  • What is your process for cleaning chimneys?

  • How long will the process take?

  • Will you protect my floors from soot and debris?

  • Will you do a chimney inspection, too?

  • Do you have certification from the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) or the National Fire Institute (NFI)?

  • Will you need access to my roof?

The average cost for a professional chimney cleaning is around $250, but prices range from $130 to $400 or more, depending on a few factors. Some things that have an impact on your total include the size of your chimney, the number of chimneys cleaned, and how accessible the chimneys are.

In some cases, you don’t need to do anything to prepare for chimney sweeping, but professionals always appreciate leaving the area clean and easy to access. As such, it’s a good idea to move fireplace accessories like screens and fire tending tools out of the way, and lay down tarps of drop cloths around your fireplace opening to help keep your floors clean. Laying down a plastic sheet under those cloths or tarps is a good idea if your fireplace is surrounded by carpeting, just to add extra protection. Finally, secure any pets or children away from the work area.

The National Fire Prevention Agency (NFPA) recommends chimney sweeping once per year as a means of avoiding house fires and massive property damage. Over time, creosote and soot build up in your chimney from burning wood and a lack of ventilation. These compounds are both highly flammable, which means a build-up of them inside your chimney puts you at an increased risk of house fire. Chimney sweeping removes any residue and helps reduce the risk of property damage and personal injury from fire.
