Pool and Spa Servicing

We used Aqua Pros to put in a new liner and resurface our pool steps. At first the customer service from the sales rep was great (when trying to get our business). The step resurfacing took place June 21st. I reached out about areas needing to be touched up and was told he would be back in touch. After 5 days I had to reach out again to follow up as I hadn't heard anything. Then June 27th the liner was put in and the second coat was done on the steps. There were still two areas we noticed the next day when it dried that looked like they scraped something across it. The service guys also poured the dirty sand water and liner pieces into my garden bed and left the junk there for us to clean up!! They also had said they would schedule the water hauling company to come back the following week to fill the pool the rest of the way up. I again reached out and I was told the service manager would reach out about the garden bed and steps. They also said they were trying to get the water company back out. After two more weeks we got someone else to fill up the pool with water bc at this point it had turned green bc it wasn't high enough to reach the filters. This caused us over a week of dealing with having to get the chemicals balanced right to get the pool water to normal levels and clarity. They tried to say the service guys were given "the thumbs up" on the steps even though we weren't home when they finished them. My husband saw them while they were working and gave a generic "it's looking good", so I guess they tried to use that as the all clear. He had then left to go back to work while they continued working on the steps. Several more emails, phone calls, and a stop at their Bedford location and now it is Aug 2nd and we have yet to be contacted by the service manager!! I guess once they received our $12K they figured they didn't have to provide us with the touchups or to make things right about the flower bed. We will never use them again!!

Fireplace Service, Chimney Sweeping
$155
I'm happy to pay for a service charge for them to size the chimney for the new cap but they performed a chimney sweep that was completely unnecessary and of course we were promptly billed for it. I have pictures showing the sweep was totally unnecessary. They were at my home for 20 minutes and it cost me $155! In my humble opinion It was a mistake to use this company and I won't be making the same mistake again.

I was charged $95 and no service was provided.  Had I been told in advance that there would be a minimum charge or a service call fee, I would not have scheduled the appointment.

Contacted their store in Salem, VA. Said they worked on our brand stove, would call. 2 weeks later they called and said they would be out next day. Stove did not work. We were trying to get Dixie Products to repair, this is where we purchased stove. Dixie had a 3 week wait. 2 men came out. Did not have a clue on how to repair stove. One called MFG and one was on his phone texting the entire time he was here. They could not determine why it would not work or why it was blowing fuses. Put it back together and it ran. They gave me a bill for $200 and left. Shut stove off that night and one fan would not turn off. Had to unplug unit.  Next week I called them because I was not happy with their service. They said they would get back to me and never did. Dixie Products came out this week and repaired stove. Runs great now and shuts off.

Showed up days late every time, didn't bring tools needed to do the job the first time so they had to come back.  Replaced heater failed with in one month and they tried to charge me to replace it again even though it was under warranty.  I talked to the owned various time about the poor customer service and he stated he was trying to train his service manager.  An the leak was never touched.  In short find someone else.

"As owner of Aqua Pros, I listened to the member's complaint. First of all, he has a spa from an out of town vendor that sells factory direct. We service all manufacturers' products. In this case, we did NOT have a special wrench to remove the screws to acccess the cabinet and equipment. We returned to find the cause of the tripping breaker to be a bad heater element. Replaced the element and got paid for our services. As sometimes happens, the element failed soon after our replacement. We returned and replaced the element with a new element. We charged for the labor, but not for the element, since the parts suppliers only warrantee the product. When the member complained I agreed to remove the labor charges for the warranty trip, since the part failed in under 30 days. Soon after, his high limit switch on the heater housing failed and had to be replaced. One (heater element) had nothing to do with the other (pressure switch) in this case. Its quite possible that bad water chemistry led to his problems. In any case we acted fair, responsibly and are disappointed the member was dissatisfied. I do not know what else i could have done, other than to give him service for free. In almost 30 years of serving the public I do not know how this could have been resolved differently."

The actual opening of our pool went without incident; however, the following actions make me question the knowledge of these people: They instructed my wife to backwash the filter a couple times a day, which, from what I have since read, is unnecessary and significantly reduces the life of the filter sand. They forgot to remove the plug from one of the pool water returns (jets). There are only four returns in the whole pool; how did they miss one? A few days after the opening, we brought in a sample for testing. They told us we had to add 133 pounds of shock! That just seemed wrong, so we waited a couple of days and returned with another sample. Again, 133 pounds of shock. This time, however, they insisted that we had to drain and refill the pool. Since neither my wife nor I had had a pool before, we thought this was a normal occurrence and began preparing to drain it. That same day we ended up talking to our septic guy. He said that was absolutely ridiculous and referred us to Westlake Pools. We brought a sample to Westlake Pools, where they told us to add 13 bags of shock along with several other chemicals. After following the advise of the people at Westlake, our pool is now perfectly clear and blue. I have zero trust in Aqua Pros and will never use them again.
Response from AQUA PROS POOLS & SPAS INC
"$200 was the price of performing an opening. The reason one inlet was left covered is because it was inactive. By inactive, it was for a future pool cleaner and NOT for any operating part of the system at the time. The test we performed that called for the large addition of Chlorine shock showed that the water had a large quantity of organic contaminant that created a Chlorine Demand. A chlorine demand requires special testing equipment that NOT ALL Pool Stores/businesses have. It is possible to clear up a demand with other chemicals, and once we performed the test, they took their printed test results to another dealer, they mentioned 13 bags of shock and some other chemicals. My guess is they used some other chemicals, or did not wait long enough to find out if the Cl Demand was resolved."
