"These guys are great. They installed new flooring, tile and cabinets in our kitchen. They did a wonderful job and finished a week ahead of schedule. The workers were extremely respectful and professional. I would definitely recommend these guys for any of your home improvement needs."

Small jobs welcome

"This was the second major job I hired this company for. The first was the addition of a screened- in deck and patio addition in 2017. Both times they were professional, on time, and quality of work was outstanding. I will not hesitate to hire them for future projects."

"Happened 1/7/2018 and waited for contractor to begin-when I was told might go into April start date,I called Custom Built and Painted and spoke to Matt Steinhilber. I couldn't believe it when he said he could estimate the following day and start the following Monday. Mr. Steinhilber did everything he promised and much more. All the problems of moldings, bumps and holes were addressed and he was brilliant with paint color. Helped a very indecisive person make a decision. I will use Custom built and painted for jobs in the future and we couldn't be happier. Thanks Matt and to his superb talented crew."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.

Stick frames, metal frames, or prefabricated concrete frames are included in framing a house, along with creating the framework and space for windows, doors, and entryways. Other aspects of developing a home—like drywall, insulation, windows, doors, and more—are not included in the cost to frame a house.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

You may need a permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-ins added to homes. Check with your carpenter or, if you're DIY-ing, do some research on your city's requirements.

Yes, most services include necessary frame modifications for proper door fitting. Confirm with your provider.
