Prouty's Chimney Sweep was founded in 2002 by Greg Prouty in Leesburg, Virginia. Growing up in the business, I'm no stranger to the chimney profession. My father was the owner/operator of Olde Towne Chimney Sweep for much of my childhood. I learned everything I know about sweeping and repairing chimneys from my father and have my certification through the Chimney Safety Institute of America. My mission is to provide excellent service and education to all my customers while maintaining the highest integrity. I'm very passionate about my work and hope that you can trust my suggestions on how to safely maintain your chimney. After all you are starting a fire inside your perfectly good home!

"Prouty did a great job on the chimney liners and ultimately the chimney cap repair. I rated them a C on responsiveness and professionalism specifically for an issue related to finishing the chimney cap in April when the weather conditions allowed for the repair. We financed the project over a six month period. I had requested that they provide pictures of the finished work including the chimney cap. Other companies we have used in the past provide before and after pictures. However, we were told that because they had already completed the chimney cap repair, they would not return to take pictures. It wasn't until we withheld the final payment that they agreed to return and provide pictures; only to find out that the work had not been completed. They were apologetic about the error in the paperwork, but I can't help thinking if we had not withheld the final payment, we would have been unaware that the repair had not been completed. I believe I would hire them again, but would have to make sure to verify the completed work."

***Our safety measures have increased dramatically due to the COVID virus and will use every measure possible to keep you, your family and our employees safe! *** Dominion Granite and Marble is the premier countertop fabricator in the Washington DC and Northern Virginia area. For over 15 years we have consistently been ranked #1 for quality and customer service by independent consumer review sites such as Angie's List, Houzz, and the Washington Consumer Checkbook. "We were so impressed with the kitchen counters and island from ten years ago that we went out of our way to have Dominion Granite install the marble counter tops for our bathroom renovation. Christian and his team were extremely professional and informative the first time, and were just as professional and informative during the most recent installation. They have vast and amazing options on site to select your granite or marble. Meticulous installation with perfect lines and cut-outs. High quality on trend porcelain sinks are also available from Dominion Granite. Their office is urban chic and inviting showroom with amazing slabs in their adjacent warehouse and cutting area. Most highly recommended."

"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. There was a deadline for installing this part before tenants arrive. They did not care, would not m"

2008 years of experience

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

Rusty's Fire Place & Chimney is a small business specializing in chimney repairs, restoration and cleaning. In addition we sell, install and service wood, pellet and gas stoves, inserts and fireplaces. We take pride in our work and make sure the customer is comfortable with the work we perform.

"I wanted to upgrade my wood burning fireplace with a direct vent fireplace insert. I visited a couple of showrooms and decided on Rusty’s mainly because they had the insert that I wanted and I like to support small local businesses when possible. The installation was flawless and my insert is just as good as I thought it would be. The work crew was tidy and completed the installation quickly. I would highly recommend Rusty’s for fireplace insets."

Appliance Sales questions, answered by experts

Clean regularly, follow manufacturer’s guidelines, and inspect connections for wear.

Many modern appliance brands make small appliances meant to be replaced rather than repaired, but companies like LG®, GE®, Maytag®, Kitchenaid®, and Whirlpool® stand out as high-quality brands with repairable products. Many of these companies even employ technicians who repair large and small appliances alike, and manufacture replacement parts to make repairs easier. If you’re unsure if it’s best to repair or replace your appliance, ask a professional appliance technician about the brand and specific model.

If you do not perform proper, regular maintenance, your oven's life span will be shortened. Make sure to thoroughly clean your oven regularly, including coils, ranges, and other parts. In addition, use the self-cleaning mode sparingly; it’s hard on your appliance. When you do use it, carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

If you use your microwave as your quick reheating solution, replacing it with a steam oven won’t be your best choice. Steam ovens take a long time to heat things up. Sometimes, it can be an hour or more before your food is ready. Meanwhile, a microwave heats up food in minutes with many quick-heat presets, making it the perfect option for those on a tight schedule.

No, you should not run two refrigerators on the same circuit as it is likely to overload the circuit and cause the breaker to trip or worse—cause an electrical fire. Each standard-size refrigerator should be on a dedicated 20-amp circuit. You should never plug a refrigerator into an extension cord or power strip as it can cause serious safety hazards. Refrigerators have built-in surge protection that safeguards them from the damage of power surges.
