"We had foundation piers in our crawl space and 3 pumps with drain gutters installed in our basement in October. They had to come back in July because water was seeping into the basement from another area. They scheduled the additional work quickly. Conan and Charles added the additional gutter to the existing gutter and did not have to put in another pump with outside drain. The work invoice was adjusted to a lower cost, and we are satisfied . Time will tell if our basement stays dry. Wish they had done all the gutter work originally , as it is noisy and dusty , Thanks , especially Conan!"

"Allen and Justin (Blacksburg location) did their work late on a Friday afternoon without any complaints. They were efficient and I felt like they were honest in their assessment and repair advice. They walked me through almost everything and gave advice on how to extend the water heater life."

"Good people to work with, professional in every way. Normally when we received 2" of rain water would start entering the basement. When we receive 3" the basement floor would be covered. Two days after installing their system our area received 8.5" of rain and our basement remained dry, not a drop got in the house. These guys know what they are doing."

"My Husband and I are so pleased.  The mirror is a family piece that we thought was beyond repair.  The carved, outer veneer of one corner of the frame looked like it had frost heaves.  The vine pattern cut into the veneer and finished with gold paint just made the wood more fragile and I had put masking tape over the area to try to keep pieces from falling off.  He kept every piece we had and got all the pieces off the tape.  He got the awful ridges to lie flat and put everything back where it belonged.  He was very careful to keep the mirror as original as possible.  When we got it back today, we couldn't believe how good it looks now.  The ridges are gone. there is only a tiny triangle of wood missing and the carved pattern once again matches the pattern in the other 3 corners of the piece.  It went back up the hour we got it back, no-where near the humidifyer this time. The price and time frame for the work were just as advertised.  I was surprised he found a way to fix it so well in the time he had the mirror.

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:

  • Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor

  • Mold spots in your basement

  • Musty smells or odors

  • Warped doors or walls

  • Cracks in walls

  • Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites

There are several things you can do to maintain your sump pump and prevent sump pump problems. For instance, keeping a lid on your sump pit goes a long way in protecting your pump system from silt, sand, dirt, and other debris. When water drains from the outside, such as along your foundation, or with melting snow, water runoff often brings sediment with it.

Also be wary of corrosion, particularly if your sump pump system is made of metal. Keep an eye out for rust and have it inspected regularly by a plumber or sump pump technician.

Whether professional drainage installation is covered by insurance depends on your specific policy and the circumstances. In some cases, homeowners insurance may cover the cost if drainage problems pose a risk to your home's foundation or structural integrity. However, it's essential to review your insurance policy, understand the terms and conditions, and consult with your insurance provider to determine if your particular situation qualifies for coverage. Coverage may vary, so it's crucial to clarify the details with your insurer.

You should take care of any sign of water in your basement, whether it’s dampness after heavy rain or puddles of water on the floor. Besides potentially causing a health hazard, the moisture can damage your home’s structure and foundation. Furthermore, mold can grow quickly and spread throughout the rest of your home. With mold remediation costs ranging between $1,200 and $3,400, it’s best to avoid mold issues by fixing the leak.

Pooling or standing water in your basement should be cause for alarm and action. This indicates that there is a leak or a drainage issue, and until you repair the root of the problem, the situation will only happen again or grow in severity. It’s important to deal with water damage as soon as it occurs.
