Small jobs welcome

"We are in the process of building a home in Powhatan, VA. We recently had the best professional experience with Bobby from Coastal Landscape Construction! This was not an easy job to clear about 2 acres, put in a long drive way and work in challenging cold and wet weather. Bobby is an up and coming young professional and knows exactly how to plan and achieve the end goal. Bobby was always on time, communicated daily and effectively, planned the land clearing perfectly and his prices are competitive but extremely reasonable. If you want or need any construction work completed right, you MUST use Bobby from Coastal Landscape Construction! Bobby earned a 10/10 perfect review from us and we will be using him again during our home building process! His business phone number is 804-441-1768, serving Powhatan, Midlothian and Richmond VA area."

"Excellent service, set up appointment to servey the site and provided s quote within a couple of days and then went straight to work as soon as there builders were done with their part of the project. Suggested an extra drain system be put in place now rather than later when water damage would be caused by water runoff from roof and ground slope would lead to the front lawn always being flooded... great catch that I would have had to pay for later then reseed and landscape. I will definitely use company in the future as more projects arise. Thank you for impressive, honest and fair service."

"I would highly recommend Underground Services First. They did a great job, and they found a couple of other plumbing issues in our house that weren't found initially, and fixed them for free. They were good at explaining what needed to be done and how they were going to do it in layman's terms. They were very thorough and made sure everything was functioning, not leaky, and clean before they left. It was easy to schedule an estimate and it was easy to get on their project calendar. Everyone was kind, responsive, and professional."

"Mr Johnson was very nice and professional. Started the job exactly as scheduled and made it look easy. Mr Johnson had to remove several large trees that were within feet of the backside of my garage. Other, more local contractors, refused to take on this job. Mr Johnson had no hesitations. His experience and knowledge was on full display."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

A boundary survey measures the boundary lines of the property, only the length of each property line and their locations. A land survey includes a more in-depth measurement of the property, including the heights and depths of the terrain measured by a topographic survey. A boundary survey is typically the most cost-effective method for marking and measuring property lines.

With proper training and experience, reading blueprints is fairly straightforward and not very difficult. If you don’t have the necessary knowledge to interpret the symbols, abbreviations, and other notations used, blueprints may not make sense. Learning to read blueprints can help you understand the construction process and keep you more involved and informed when you’re building a house.

Land surveys are worth it in several scenarios including selling your home, building an addition, constructing a fence, or making major changes to your landscape. A professional land survey can help you avoid legal issues with your neighbors and confirm the value of your property. In many cases, you may be required to order a land survey to receive a construction permit or mortgage loan.

Surveys completed by licensed surveyors can be recorded with a local surveying records office, and in most cases, they will be. Filing survey reports categorize them as legal documents, and they can be used whenever legal documentation of your property’s boundaries is needed. While you’re not required to file survey documents, it’s a good idea to do so.
