Customers say: Quality work

"Glave Construction is awesome. Our project was a major renovation and an addition. To achieve our vision required creativity and innovation. My Glave and his team took on the challenge and gave us the home of our dreams. The quality of their work is outstanding thus providing excellent value for your money. In addition, they make the entire process pleasurable. They are responsive, professional, honest, attentive, and dedicated. Not only was the work done well, we had a fun with the project. Completing major construction projects can be stressful so having a team that is patient and willing to listen, address concerns, and help find great solutions to unexpected issues is pretty amazing. Their communication was exceptional and the team was always willing to go above and beyond to get the job done. We highly recommend Glave Construction without hesitation!"

"We had an amazing experience working with Sarah our Design Consultant. She worked hard to make sure we were happy. She was prompt every time we reached out with a question. She made great recommendations. We are very happy with our kitchen! Duke our Templator was accurate making for an easy install. Great guy and very professional. Our Installer Kerlyn was awesome. He and his team did a nice job and made everything come together just right. We will be back for all our remodel needs! Highly recommend this team and Classic Granite and Marble!"

"Francisco's work is sub-par, and he gives you the runaround about supplies and dates of completion...in essence, he makes promises he doesn't keep. His laborers needed constant supervision but Francisco was no where around ... He consistently pulled "no-show, no call" ... He said he'd provide 12" galvanized spikes but he allowed his workers to use 10" non-galvanized even after promising me repeatedly that he had 12" available). The final jobs were sub-par: The pavement is not straight, nor is it even (rain puddles in the middle), although he did come back once to "fix" the puddling, the sidewalk still puddles and he promised to come back again in a couple of days ... it has been several weeks of no-show, no call. The gutters he installed leaked at the seams, and he said he fixed that, but the seams still leak and the gutter holds water. The pavement job is not satisfactory, and all-in-all, his performance was not what you'd expect from a professional. Expect the "runaround". Updated 1/28/21 This is a follow-up to my previous review, which gave Cisco's Construction a "D" for work replacing pavers and installing a gutter and downspout. Since then, Francisco did return again to fix the issues with rain puddling in the paver job and leaking seams & fixing the slope of the gutter. The overall experience wasn't what I'd expect from a professional, took longer than was promised, and the quality of the work was probably a "B" but because of the issues, I can only honestly give Cisco's Construction a "C". My recommendation if you hire him is to be clear upfront about your expectations."

Garages questions, answered by experts

In addition to being less expensive, nylon garage door rollers are actually much quieter than steel rollers. However, many homeowners find that they wear out prematurely compared to steel. In general, more expensive steel rollers are more durable. However, their nosiness can make them less than ideal for garages that are located beneath a home's bedrooms.

In some cases, a detached garage can be considered extra living space, but you will need to gain permission and comply with your local building code. Depending on where you live, you may need permits for a variety of installations, including electrical work, plumbing, and structural work. Many homeowners make the mistake of converting a garage into a living space without acquiring permits, which can result in hefty fines and even the removal of your hard work. Furthermore, a detached garage doesn’t add to the livable square footage of your home when it’s time to sell.

The best way to prevent your garage door from freezing is to install a permanent source of heat in the garage. You can have a professional tie in your main heating system or install a ductless mini split as a standalone heating solution. You can also insulate the garage to prevent temperatures from dropping to the point that the door freezes shut.

Garage door sensors should be installed on each side of the door, typically six inches off of the ground. The sensors communicate through an infrared beam, so they need to face each other directly for the system to work properly. Make sure they’re level and aligned, and keep the area around them clear. If they’re too high or out of alignment, your garage door won’t function properly.

Garage door insulation can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years depending on the type of insulation. Cellulose has the shortest lifespan coming in at between 20 and 30 years, while spray foam, mineral wool, and fiberglass can last between 80 and 100 years with proper maintenance.

Humidity plays a role in how long more susceptible insulation materials—like fiberglass—last. Once fiberglass batts reach the 15-year mark, you'll need to routinely inspect your insulation to ensure that it is in mint order.
