Small jobs welcome

"We hired JM Concrete to remove an old broken sidewalk and pour a new one for the entrance to our home. They did a wonderful job. They are easy to get in touch with and good at returning phone calls. They gave us an excellent price on the job. They were professional, courteous, and worked hard. We are very pleased with the finished product. I would definitely recommend this company."

"Came and did a good job but not perfect. Just as expensive as replacing the same amount of damaged concrete walk. Would recommend."

"I was disappointed that the concrete slab didnâ t raise all the way. I was warned by the salesman that this could happen. The people who did the work said to wait a few months and they will try again under warranty."

"Ogburn office staff (Steven and Danielle) and field staff (Jacob) are very professional and detail oriented. The work crew (Todd and Brian) were very prompt, professional, focused, efficient, and diligent. Having had a bad job done by a cheaper contractor previously, Ogburn Construction came in and did everything properly and correctly for my exposed aggregate concrete driveway, walks, and Portland cement basketball court. Professionally power washed all concrete pavement, removed old wood expansion joints in the driveway, tediously cleaned and sealed all the cracks and joints, and applied top sealer for a beautiful and durable finish."

"Went brilliantly.  Jason went through the house inside and out with what was obviously a well-practiced eye, explaining every detail clearly and concisely.  Turns out there don't appear to be any major foundation problems.  He advised photographing the small crack with a ruler and watching it regularly for any increase in size and increasing the length of drain pipes. They're researching the Dryvit issue which was new to them.  Very happy with the whole process.

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

It’s best not to perform mudjacking in the winter unless the ground temperature remains above freezing. Freezing temperatures can cause the slurry to harden too quickly, compromising its strength and longevity. Concrete is also more susceptible to cracking and splitting in cold temperatures, so there’s a higher risk of damaging the slab during the drilling and lifting process in winter.

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

Mudjacking typically takes 24 to 72 hours (one to three days) to dry and cure completely before you can resume normal use. The exact time can vary depending on the size of the project. Because the slurry mixture contains cement, it must fully harden to ensure that added weight from walking, furniture, or vehicles won't shift the concrete slab. A professional contractor can advise you on when the surface is safe to use. For comparison, if you use polyjacking instead, the polyurethane foam can dry in just a few minutes, but it's best to wait about an hour before use.

Concrete leveling is not typically covered by insurance. In some cases where the shifting concrete is caused by a natural disaster or storm, you may be able to file an insurance claim if your policy specifically covers those circumstances. In most cases, though, you’ll pay out-of-pocket for concrete leveling.

Address drainage issues, avoid heavy loads, and seal cracks to prevent future settling.
