"We were looking to have sod put in our entire backyard, along with underground drainage and a sprinkler system. Additionally, we wanted our front walkway redone. We researched several companies and ended up going with Landscape Concepts of Fairfax. My wife had worked with Dale previously and so we felt we could trust him. Dale came out to assess our situation and provided us with an estimate that was in the ballpark of what we were looking to spend. We made a few adjustments and then signed the contract. The work actually went very well and we were very happy with the work when it was complete. Our backyard looked great and our front walkway was very nice. The sod was installed in July and by September there were many areas in the backyard where the sod had died and the netting was exposed. We began reaching out to Dale asking when this would be addressed, as it is under warranty for 2 years according to what we signed. This is where things started going downhill. The responsiveness was not very good. When he did respond he would say that he was going to address. That started in September. Long story short, it was not until April 2019 that SOME of the sod was finally replaced. But Dale chose where to put sod and where to seed. I am writing this in June and the new sod still looks good, but where the seed was planted, the yard still looks like crap. And last night (June 4th) I received an email from Dale saying that while their product is under warranty, the reason our sod died was because of all the rain we had last year and that he has already provided us with a full pallet of sod at no cost. He is now willing to split the cost of any additional sod I would like. Wow, what a nice guy! We spend over $20K with this guy, of which about 1/3 was for sod, and we end up with parts of our yard looking worse now than they did before the project. I don't know how that is considered good customer service, but I will recommend Landscape Concepts of Fairfax to NOBODY! Do not use this company! I can't emphasize that enough...DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! They will take your money and leave you with something that is worse than when they started. I am still holding out a little bit of hope that Dale will make things right, but unfortunately he has my money already and so has the upper hand here. It really is ashamed but I guess I learned my lesson."

Tuck GC, Inc. is a design build general contractor with a Class A - RBC (Residential Building Contractor) License serving Northern Virginia. We excel at permitted jobs with engineered drawings and inspections. Tuck the owner-operator runs all sales, operations, and installation of projects.

"Tuck GC is a company you can trust when you want quality work. Tuck, the owner-operator, has many years of experience in the construction industry and offers an exceptionally high degree of dependability, experience, and quality. I contracted Tuck GC to install a paver driveway and a flagstone patio (comprised of a full range of colored stones). High-quality materials were used throughout, and the craftsmanship speaks for itself. Tuck is very responsive and diligent when it comes to customer service. He communicated his plans and ideas to me throughout the project, as he was on-site the entire time, and nothing was left to my imagination. Both he and his crew paid particular attention to detail. His workers were punctual and friendly, and they took pride in their work. In my case, they even worked Saturday and Sunday to complete the job in record-setting time. The workmen did a thorough job of cleaning up and removing the debris during and after the job and took good care not to damage my property. I would highly recommend Tuck GC, and I plan to use them again for future projects. Friends and neighbors who passed by my house were genuinely impressed with what they saw. And the pricing for the project was competitive."

Concrete Repair questions, answered by experts

You could DIY the work, but unless you have plumber’s knowledge for identifying and fixing a slab leak and specialized equipment in your tool shed, attempting to DIY your slab leak repair isn’t a good idea. It’s simply not something that the average homeowner can take on themselves, regardless of how many successful DIY projects they’ve got under their belt. You could, however, do something simple like foundation waterproofing yourself to save some money on the post-repair work.

Yes, foundation repairs are worth it if you have a significant problem or see signs that could worsen if not dealt with. If your foundation fails, your home can lose up to 20% of its value. Protecting your home from serious structural damage and avoiding more costly repairs later is well worth the money.

Yes, you can fill cracks in concrete if you’re a somewhat handy homeowner. It’s important to know which concrete patching method to use, as small cracks require different approaches than large ones. It might seem challenging to determine which product to use and the tools necessary for the project, but with a bit of background, homeowners can restore their cracked concrete easily.

Crawl space foundation problems can stem from a few different issues, but the most common are moisture and water problems and soil instability. Moisture and water issues are often a result of poor drainage, which can lead to water intrusion and soil expansion and contraction, leaving your foundation under added stress. A few things can cause soil instability, including poor drainage, karst landscapes and resulting sinkholes, and poorly compacted soil during construction.

It depends on the bank and the extent of the issue. Some banks will lend against homes with minor foundation damage, but most won’t if the issue is structural since the home acts as collateral for the mortgage. Banks that offer renovation loans might still finance a home with structural problems. More minor issues like settling cracks and intermittent problems with humidity are unlikely to stop a bank from financing.
