"WE HAD THE BEST EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH GUARDIAN! Our situation was somewhat unique in that we purchased an older home with extra awful water! We called Guardian; Jeff and Ryan came out, tested our water and helped us get the absolute best customized water softener system. And truly, we now have the best water! Not only am I beyond pleased with the quality of water we now have but with their customer service and care is AMAZING!! A couple months after our system was installed we had a few questions and they have been so good to answer all our questions and make sure we are taken care of. In all honesty, if I ever moved and had to purchase a water softener again I would 100% use Guardian again!"

"The process was quick and easy. The water softener went in with no modifications needed to the space it was going into. The tankless water heater is amazing ! Jerik, the installer made sure that first of all it was sized right for my home. Secondly he explained the difference between the old water heater and the tankless. the efficiency that I would see and how it would make a difference in my monthly gas bill. Any questions that I have run across Jerik has followed up with me in a timely manner. I would happily recommend this company."

"This was a super smooth and seamless process. My husband called and requested an appointment under my name and phone number. I was received prompt email and text message reminders, and the service tech was actually able to meet earlier than the original time (with advance discussion by phone). Once the service tech was on his way, I received a text from the office with a photo of who to expect. After reviewing the basement and kitchen, Poncho was able to provide a quote and asked if I was free for him to go out and purchase supplies and install the gas line that day. He was professional, kind, and efficient. I couldn't be more pleased with how convenient and easy this was and I'm looking forward to working with this business again."

"I trust Paul and Salt City Plumbing implicitly. They helped us with some tricky renovations in my 110 year old avenues house and gave us a lot of good information on how to best utilize the home warranty that we got with the house on some common problems we may experience down the road. They've saved us a lot of time and money and are the right kind of honest you want from a contractor. If something's not in your best interest, they'll tell you and they'll refer you to someone while keeping them honest if a project is outside their regular operations, like with my boiler. They have also been so wonderful in an emergency flooding at a coworkers house and are really just saviors all around. Thanks, guys!"

"Greg is fantastic. I have used High Point on several occasions and I will use them again without hesitation. Their work is outstanding and their prices are as fair as you'll find. I have used them for small jobs (e.g., furnace inspections and tune-ups) and for big jobs (e.g., installing a new AC compressor and ductwork). I have always been satisfied with the job they do and their attention-to-detail. They take pride in their work and take a personal interest in my needs and desires. I have two rental properties in Eagle Mountain. I live in Salt Lake City and my job takes me out-of-state regularly. For obvious reasons, I need a company that I trust because I don’t always have an opportunity to supervise the work. Greg is the one I trust. In December, one of my properties needed a new thermostat. In January, my other property needed the furnace inducer replaced. While inspecting the furnace, Greg noticed a leak from the water heater. He sent a picture and I set him to work on replacing the water heater as well. If you use High Point, you’ll have no regrets."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

Whether a pot filler is worth it depends on your cooking habits, budget, and kitchen layout. For avid home cooks who frequently prepare pasta, soups, or stocks, the convenience of filling large pots directly on the stove can be a significant benefit. A pot filler can also add value to a home, attracting potential buyers with its combination of luxury and utility. However, the installation can cost around $800. The return on this investment is highest in larger kitchens where the sink is far from the stove. In smaller kitchens, where the sink is nearby, a pot filler might be perceived as an unnecessary feature by some homeowners or potential buyers.

Depending on the issue and materials, costs range from $150 to $500.

The average cost to hire a plumber is typically between $45 and $200 per hour, with a common average rate around $125 per hour. This cost can vary based on your location, the plumber's experience, and the complexity of the job. Rates are often broken down by experience level: an apprentice may charge $45 to $90 an hour, a journeyman $60 to $110 an hour, and a master plumber $80 to $200 an hour. While hourly rates are standard, some plumbers may charge a flat fee for routine projects or offer project-based pricing. It's also common for plumbers to charge a minimum service or trip fee. For reference, some typical flat-rate costs for common jobs include: drain unclogging ($220), leaky faucet repair ($270), burst pipe repair ($400), toilet repair ($300), and water heater repair ($600). Note that these rates are for standard service hours; emergency, holiday, and after-hours calls will cost significantly more.

Deteriorated seals, O-rings, or gaskets are common culprits behind a leaky sink after you’ve turned off the water—especially if your sink is older than 15 years. Inspect each of these mechanisms in your sink for signs of corrosion or looseness, then replace the worn-out part to fix it. Older sinks may be worth replacing if several of the parts are worn-out.

If your kitchen is flooding, first turn off the water supply and electricity before entering the room. Next, focus on immediate flood control by cleaning up any standing water with a sump pump or wet-dry vacuum to prevent long-term water damage to your home. Open your windows and run any dehumidifiers you have handy. Finally, call a professional plumber to help find the source of the flood and repair it.
