"Great company to call for heavy duty, thorough, dryer vent cleaning. Note: they also took off the front dryer panel and blew + sucked all of the lint out of the inside of the dryer. Didn't expect that. Thank you Air Plus."

"A plumber was immediately available when I called, so I received same day service.  The plumber was polite, covered his shoes when walking inside, and cleaned up behind himself.  On each item that was out of compliance with code, he gave me the option of whether to replace it and provided a recommendation of whether I should replace the item.  When mold was found, he immediately recommended someone to come over to address the situation so the installation could be completed.  While the price I paid may have been higher than for other plumbers, I feel it was fair and am satisfied with the repair."

"I appreciated that Brandon worked with my schedule to figure out a date to come and clean my air vents and dryer vent. He was easy to talk to on the phone to work out what needed to be done in my home and how much it would cost. He and his guys were easy to work with in person and cleaned everything we agreed on in a timely manner. We would have him come back again."

"Their work was very professional and very well done.  I particularly appreciated that they were able to do the job on the weekend.  They rebuilt my brick chimney, which was in very bad shape, as well as lining the chimney for venting the furnace and capping the chimney appropriately.  Great work, very attentive on returning phone calls and great service.

"We had Pure Air Utah out to our home over the weekend. They were on time, very professional, and showed us lots of before and after pictures. We wanted to get our furnace cleaned and a sanitizer sprayed and they were very upfront and open about the cost. Great company and will be having them come out again in the future!"

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You should not put boric acid into your home’s air vents. While sprinkling boric acid in roach-prone areas is an effective way to get rid of them, it’s not safe to introduce those chemicals into your home’s air system. Instead, put boric acid or diatomaceous earth in a spot that roaches may walk through, infesting them and the rest of the infestation.

You will know if your dryer is overheating by placing your hand on top to feel its temperature. If it’s hot to the touch, that’s a clear sign the dryer is overheated. Other signs include your laundry coming out hotter than usual, a burnt smell when it’s running, or burn marks on your laundry.

The frequency of cleaning your dryer depends on how often you use it. For regular households, it is recommended to clean the lint trap after each load of laundry. Additionally, thorough cleaning of the dryer—lint trap, drum, and exterior—should be done every few months. It's important to pay attention to the vent system as well. Ideally, it should be cleaned at least once a year, or six months if your dryer takes care of huge loads often, or more frequently if you notice reduced drying efficiency.

If you just moved into a new house or found significant mold, dust, or pest remnants in your vents, or you see condensation on your air vents, you can easily find a highly trained pro to do the job correctly by asking a few key questions:

  • Do you have proof of liability insurance?

  • What about worker's compensation insurance?

  • Are you a member of the NADCA?

  • Have you worked on my model of HVAC system before?

  • What is included in your contracted amount?

  • Can you provide local references?

Dryers pull in air from a circular opening in the back of the dryer. The dryer's heating element heats the air, and a blower fan circulates the hot air through the drum. The hot air travels outside the dryer through a vent or is cooled by a heat exchanger that condenses the steam into water and sends it down a drainpipe or to a containment compartment.
