"Great company to call for heavy duty, thorough, dryer vent cleaning. Note: they also took off the front dryer panel and blew + sucked all of the lint out of the inside of the dryer. Didn't expect that. Thank you Air Plus."

"I purchased the Big Deal online over the weekend, and they called me first thing Monday morning. I was able to schedule the service this same week. Rodney and Robert came to do the cleaning and inspection. The appointment was for 8 a.m., but they arrived a bit late due to the heavy morning traffic. They were professional, knowledgable and pleasant. The cleaning and inspection took about 45 minutes.
My home is about 100 years old and I was not surprised that the inspection revealed some problems that need to be corrected. Rodney did a very good job of explaining these issues and what needed to be done to correct them. He showed me photos of the chimney liner he had taken on the roof. The chimney has no cap and the liner is corroded as a result. He also showed me problems with the connections where the flues from the furnace and water heater are vented into the chimney, as well as loose and cracked bricks and deteriorated mortar in the firebox.
They prepared a proposal to install a new liner kit and cap, and to rebuild the firebox with the appropriate materials. The price seemed quite reasonable, so we scheduled the work to be done next week.
The Big Deal was an excellent value. I am pleased with the service this company has provided so far, and I feel comfortable in having them do the necessary repairs.

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, basic cleaning can be done with vacuum attachments and vent brushes, but hard-to-reach areas are best left to professionals for thoroughness.

Failing to open your flue can lead to serious health hazards if you start a fire because the smoke will back up into your home. Breathing fire smoke, even in relatively small quantities, is bad for human lungs, and smoke can also irritate your nasal passages and eyes. Furthermore, smoke can cause damage to your interior fixtures and furnishings, at the very least leaving an unpleasant smoky smell for a long time. In short: If your flue isn’t open (or you’re not sure if it is or not), don’t start a fire to find out!

As a general rule, you should have your dryer vent professionally cleaned at least once a year to remove lint and debris buildup, which can cause fires and increase energy costs. However, the frequency may need to be adjusted based on usage. If you have a large household, use the dryer frequently, have pets, or have an older vent system, it is better to clean the vent more often, such as every six months or even quarterly. You should also schedule a cleaning immediately if you notice signs of a blockage, such as clothes taking longer to dry, the dryer feeling hot to the touch, or an odd odor. Routine vacuuming is not a substitute for a thorough, professional cleaning.

A thorough dryer vent cleanout improves efficiency, reduces energy consumption, extends the dryer's life, and decreases fire risk from lint buildup.

Yes, you can snake a roof vent. This is one of the best ways to clear a problematic clog in a plumbing vent. You can either snake the vent by climbing on the roof and sending the plumber’s snake or auger directly down the vent opening, or you can cut a hole in the vent from inside the attic and snake it from there.
