"Not well. Here is a letter I sent after the work was completed followed by their reply. As you will see, they did refund to cost of the unnecessary part and installation with an apology. This, however, should never have happened. 10/5/2016 To Management: I am writing with regards to a breach in the honesty and integrity of your company and its technicians. My wife and I are deeply troubled about this, especially because we found you on Angie’s List and, thereby assumed that we had hired a highly reputable contractor to install our water heater. As is evident on the invoice, attached, the installation occurred on Monday, October 3, 2016, at our residence. To be specific, you technician waited until the end of the installation to inform us that our water pressure was too high and if left at 90 psi, the manufacturer’s warrantee on the unit would be void, and that we would need a pressure regulator valve to keep the warrantee. Upon questioning, he stated that while 90 psi was not particularly dangerous, the water pressure goes up at night and that was why we need the pressure regulator. Further, he explained that he could have measured the pressure on the old heater and told us up front but that he was “by the office” to wait until the end of the installation to reveal such information to customers, presumably to scare them into agreeing to purchasing the regulator. While we find the practice of waiting until the end of the installation to tell customers like ourselves that an expensive part was now needed in order to maintain the warrantee to be highly unethical in itself, we are especially aggrieved to learn that we were lied to on two counts. I called the manufacturer, Rheem, who’s representative, after I explained the incident as I describe it herein, informed me that no such stipulation exists and that as long as a water heater expansion tank was installed (it was) and that it was properly set (we hope so), the warrantee would be in force. The representative advised me to call another plumber who works in Salt Lake City to double check on details, and so I did. He was duly appalled and further informed me of the second lie. Contrary to the statement made by your technician, in fact, the city turns down the water pressure at night. Yesterday, I received a message from Angie’s List, asking for my evaluation of the installation and your company. Before I reply to it, I would like to give you the opportunity to apologize and give us a full refund on the cost of the pressure regulator and its installation. We look forward to your speedy reply. Sincerely, ___________________ 10/11/2016 Mr. xxxxx This is to notify you that your refund of $340 was credited back to your Visa card ending in 1229. Attached, please find a copy of your credit receipt. "The work was as expected. They had to work a different job in the morning unexpectantly and we received a phone call that they were late. They forgot to cover he downstairs fireplace and let a lot of debris down the chimney. It was vacuumed but there was still some remnants and a lot of dust. Some of the paint on the hearth was left chipped. I have called and am waiting for a call about the chips.

Gas Fireplace Repair questions, answered by experts

In most cases, the repair is worth the value as it should help maintain the life of the appliance for a longer period, and the repair should be a lower cost than replacing the entire unit. For example, if the cost to repair your refrigerator will be more than 50% of the cost to buy a new one, and it’s 10 years old or more, then it may not be worth repairing.

The cost to replace a stove depends on the type. For a gas stove, the average cost is about $2,500, with a typical range of $525 to $3,200. This cost is influenced by the specific model, professional labor needed, and installation time. If you are replacing an existing gas stove, you likely won't need to install a new gas line, which helps keep costs down. For comparison, replacing a wood-burning stove might cost closer to $3,000.

Choosing the right appliance installation company involves finding an installer with a positive reputation among past customers, works with your specific appliances, and won’t void your manufacturer’s warranty. We recommend you ask the following questions to any installer you’re considering hiring:

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Can you handle the gas line or water line connection I need?

  • Are you certified by my appliance manufacturer for installation?

  • Do you have any customer references I can call?

  • How many years have you been in business?

  • Do you offer discounts if I need multiple appliances installed?

Yes, many services include the removal and disposal of old appliances. Confirm with your contractor.

The cost to convert an electric stove to a gas stove ranges from $125 to $2,000, depending on your kitchen's current setup. If you already have a gas line behind your stove, a plumber may only charge around $125 to hook up the new range. However, running a new gas line costs between $260 and $820, and setting up a new gas service for the house can cost around $2,000.

Many people find the switch worthwhile. Gas stoves offer more precise temperature control and can last up to 15 years, compared to 13 years for most electric stoves. However, there are safety considerations, as electric stoves are generally safer. If your main issue with your electric stove is temperature control, an induction stove could be a better alternative, offering accuracy without introducing new safety hazards. When planning the switch, ensure the dimensions of the new stove match the old one.
