"I had a dead mature olive tree in a large pot on my patio. Josh and his crew removed the tree which proved more difficult and time consuming than estimated . They did a great job with removal and planting a new tree and cleaned up beautifully. We were very pleased with his work, timeliness and work ethic. Very refreshing!"

"James is very knowledgeable, he seemed to care about my trees almost as much as I do. He trimmed three big fruitless mulberries and took out two dead trees. The cleanup was fabulous. He is my new tree guy."

"We had a tricky treat to take down because it hung over our fence above the neighbors pool. We had used Dan before for our palm trees in the front and when I sent him a picture of the work to be done, he said he could do that no problem. Dan is quick, efficient, and pretty fun to watch. He explains his work as he goes if you want him to, and his pricing can’t be beat!"

"They didn't really do a good job. It was another case of what they said they were going to do they didn't really do. They come out and they say "hey we are going to take a tree out or two for you" and I said okay how far are you going to take it down and they were like "well we'll take it down to the bottom we'll dig 6 inches into the ground and we'll get down that far and we'll cover up the dirt you'll never even know the tree was here but we're not going to stump grind it." So I come back and there's like 8 to 12 inches above the ground. He came over and solicited me because he was doing a neighbors yard. They said they would clean up but they left kind of a mess. The estimate they gave me and the actual bill they gave me they actually had to charge me a little bit more as they initially said $300.00 but they came back and said it was like $350.00 and then I just think if they are coming to my house asking to do work and I did not reach out to them they should do what they said they were going to do and at least bring the stumps down to the ground. I would say to watch them on the estimate and advise to be there when they are doing the work. The price was still fair for the work as one tree was big and one was a medium size tree. They showed up when they said they would."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. These scars will often show vulnerable living wood inside the tree. It’s also common to see scorched or wilted leaves on the side or top of the tree where lightning struck.

Dead trees are dangerous for several reasons. They are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failure, which can pose a significant safety risk to people, vehicles, and nearby structures. Dead trees can also harbor pests like termites, which may spread to other trees or your home. If a tree died from a disease, it could spread the illness to healthy trees. Additionally, the dry wood is highly flammable, increasing fire risk.

Not all evergreen conifers need to be pruned, but some do. Pruning pine trees is not necessary, but you can do so during June and July if you wish. On the other hand, spruce, firs, and junipers do need to be pruned from late winter to early spring.

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.

Trees don’t usually grow back after being cut down. Some particularly robust tree species may start sending up new stems from a stump to recover, but those stems won’t become a “tree” like before. Generally, trees don’t recover from being entirely cut down, which is why it’s important to be careful when making a decision. When you cut down a tree, it’s a good idea to make plans to remove the stump, even if it’s unlikely to grow back.
