"We had our tree trimmed and so did our neighbors. He thinned them out and shaped them beautifully. He did an excellent job and his prices are very reasonable! He was very polite and professional. Furthermore, he did all the clean up and made sure the street and properties were clean. He was punctural and followed through doing a complete job. Both my neighbor and us highly recommend him."

"I had a complete overhaul of our landscaping performed by ZionScapes. They took out all dead landscaping, removed dead existent sod, removed and replaced over 12 tons of rock, installed over 3k sqft of turf, installed several hundred sqft of pavers, replaced all irrigation lines, and replanted new trees and shrubs. Check out our before and after photos! Everyone we worked with at ZionScapes was professional and did excellent work. Would recommend them to anyone"

Customers say: Quality work

"These guys did a great job. We communicated by text, set up an immediate appointment to come out and take a look at what I wanted. Gave me a reasonable quote and were able to schedule me in quickly. My neighbor saw what they were doing at my place and hired them to do a similar job that day."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s possible to overwater a newly-planted tree. Daily watering is great for the first few weeks, but it’s important not to go overboard. Excessive watering can lead to various problems, including root rot, fungal diseases, and a lack of root development.

DIY home gardening can be relaxing, joyful, and cost-effective. From mowing your lawn to planting your own flower beds, there is a wide variety of gardening tasks that you can do yourself to make your yard look beautiful. If you’d rather spend your time not in the dirt, or if you’d like someone to take care of your plants for you, calling a professional gardening service is best. They can give you a workup of what services you’ll need and how often to schedule them.

State and local laws vary, but in most cases, you are allowed to trim any branches from your neighbor's tree that cross your property line. However, it's important to ensure you do not damage the overall health of the tree in the process. Removing branches incorrectly can jeopardize the health of the tree and could lead to you being on the hook to replace it.

Most trees can be successfully transplanted while they are young, but pines, walnuts, and some oak tree varieties are more difficult to move because their root systems grow deeper than most other trees. Also, trees adapted to sandy soil with wide root systems like beeches, willows, and aspens are harder to dig out because their roots spread much farther out from the trunk. In these cases, unless the trees are very young and small, it’s a good idea to consult a tree planting professional.

You can use the formula mentioned earlier to calculate the depth of tree roots. Each inch of width of a tree trunk translates to six inches of depth within the root system. Large trees extend anywhere from 2 to 6 feet into the ground, with some magnificent specimens going even deeper.
