"Adrian & his crew were so great to work with. Great communication, answering all our questions. Adding on any changes we asked for. Adrian was great. He came out to our house with all his samples and helped us pick the best flooring for our needs. We have 2 large dogs and needed flooring that would not scratch from their nails. He knew just what flooring would work. We've had the flooring for 3 months now, not a single scratch. His crew was so nice and respectful while in our home. Our floor looks amazing. If you are looking for new flooring- look no further. Floor Coverings International was awesome to work with. Highly recommend!"

"They can epoxy more than just the floor. They epoxied our steps going into the basement and also the steps going from the garage to the main house. They went up the sides of our garage walls where there was concrete showing."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

No, termites don’t eat bamboo flooring like they do hardwood flooring. That’s because bamboo is a hardy grass that is naturally resistant to many pests, including termites. If you’re concerned about termites or other pests that could damage your floors, you can achieve a look similar to hardwood without the stress of pests by installing bamboo flooring.

Yes, nylon carpets are suitable for homes with allergies due to their hypoallergenic properties. Nylon fibers are resistant to mold and mildew growth, minimizing allergen accumulation in the carpet. Additionally, nylon carpets are often treated to repel moisture and stains, further reducing the risk of allergens and promoting a healthier indoor environment for allergy sufferers.

In most cases, you do not need to put padding or underlayment under carpet tiles. Unlike traditional carpet, which requires a separate pad, carpet tiles are designed to be installed directly onto a firm subfloor like plywood, concrete, or tile. Many carpet tiles come with a built-in underlay and attach with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or glue. For a more comfortable, cushioned feel, especially in residential settings, you can opt for padded carpet tiles that have a thicker underlay attached. While it's generally not recommended to install a separate pad, a compact underlayment might be used in some situations, though this typically requires professional installation. An acoustic underlay may also be considered in commercial spaces or multi-level homes where noise reduction is a priority.

Nylon carpet is widely considered one of the most durable and longest-lasting options, typically lasting 12 to 15 years. Its durability comes from its high resistance to wear, tear, stains, fading, and abrasions. It also resists liquid spills, insects, mold, and mildew, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like living rooms and hallways. For even greater longevity, frieze or Berber carpets are excellent choices that can last up to 20 to 25 years.

Beyond the material, a carpet's construction is key to its durability. Low-pile carpets with short, tight loops hold up better against wear than high-pile options. As a synthetic material, nylon is available in a vast range of colors and styles and often feels remarkably soft.

Now that you know the true pleasure of a squeaky-clean floor, you’re probably wondering how to keep floors clean between mop days. Here are the best tips to keep your floor looking spotless:

  • Give floors a quick daily swipe with a microfiber mop.

  • Keep a spray bottle of your cleaning solution on hand to use as needed.

  • Sweep daily and vacuum once or twice a week.

  • Clean up spills and messes as soon as they happen.

  • Place a doormat at each entrance to your home to reduce mud tracking.

  • Consider enforcing a “no shoes inside” policy.

  • Wash your pet’s paws before letting them back inside.
