"My lawn was a mess! Patchy, weedy, and brown. Lawn Doctor was able to bring it back to life and now they keep it green and weed free. All my neighbors use them now too!"

"First thing I want to say about this company is that they have excellent customer service. I was a tiny yard(under 5000 sq. ft.) and I felt like they gave me the same attention they would large customers. All my emails and phone calls were returned and I was never just ignored. Next thing I recommend is to buy their first year treatment service. They will come and do the treatment and it's also a great time for them to see the lawn, and make recommendations. All in all, it did take some time, but the lawn came in nice, but I am most impressed with their customer service."

"Justin was efficient and courteous and did exactly what we had discussed trimming, mowing and cleaning up the entire yard. He brought enough help to do the job all in one day and cleaned up and hauled away the waste, too! Would definitely use again."

"Excellent work from start to finish! It was a huge job and we had just been burned by a previous contractor on a different project so I was hesitant. They showed up when they said they would, had timely communication, cared about making it right, quality workmanship, great problem-solving and team work, very friendly and honest and hard-working. I can't recommend them enough and would be happy to hire them again for any project at our home! Thank you, Romero Landscaping--we are exceptionally happy with a beautiful yard and a job well done!"

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

Yes, especially for properties focusing on curb appeal. A well-maintained landscape supports visual and environmental attractiveness, potentially increasing desirability.

The average cost to mow a lawn is about $125 per visit, with prices typically ranging from $50 to $205. The final cost depends on several factors, including your location, yard size, lawn shape, accessibility, grass type and length, and the frequency of service. Lawns with obstacles, steep slopes, or hard-to-reach areas may cost more. If a company charges by size, you can expect to pay between $0.01 and $0.06 per square foot, or $150 to $200 per acre.

A general breakdown of costs by lawn size is as follows:

• 3,500 square feet: $35–$210

• 5,000 square feet: $50–$300

• 10,000 square feet: $100–$600

• 1 Acre: $150–$200

• 2 Acres: $300–$400

• 3 Acres: $450–$600

• 4 Acres: $600–$800

• 5 Acres: $750–$1,000

• 10 Acres: $1,500–$2,000

• 15 Acres: $2,250–$3,000

Keep in mind that these prices generally cover routine maintenance like mowing and edging. Additional services such as raking leaves, weeding, trimming, or applying pesticides can add $400 or more to your total cost.

During normal temperatures, you should mow about once per week. However, if your grass is distressed by extreme heat, you should avoid mowing it altogether. Wait until after an irrigation session or rainfall. That way, your grass will be good and hydrated before you mow. Remember, you should not mow the grass when it’s wet. Wait until it dries first.

As a beginner, start by mowing your lawn in symmetrical rows by turning the mower at the end of each row and overlapping with the previous row. Use an edging tool or weedwacker to make your lawn look sharp and crisp around the edges, and then sweep the debris back into the yard. Take it slow, and know that you can adjust your approach or pattern the next time your grass needs a clip.

Planting grass from seed requires time to grow before it can handle even light foot traffic. Most varieties require a minimum of three months before you can walk on them regularly. You can expect to wait at least one year before your lawn can hold up to heavy use. Because sod is already established, it can be walked on more quickly than grass planted from seed.
