"This is the worst contractor I have ever dealt with in my life. We ordered a $150k + window package nearly a year ago from them through our general contractor as part of a very large renovation contract to our 9000 sf residence. Several of the windows were the wrong size, doors were the wrong swing direction. Nearly every time the USI installers came out, they had the wrong parts, wrong windows, not enough guys, and told me they didn?t know what they were here to do. Most of the times they came out, they would install one, maybe two windows, take a 1 1/2 lunch break then leave shortly afterwards. Since we ordered 42 windows and doors, the combination of the mistakes in ordering and slow installers drug the project out multiple months past the projected completion date. My calls and my GC?s calls to their lead guy Jon were mostly ignored, often dismissed and when he did respond it was often unprofessional. To be fair he did come through one time early on, but has ghosted us since."

Most professionals can install a window well in two to three days, depending on the size of the well and the window you want inside it. If you’re just replacing an existing window well, the work is much less intensive, and most experts can get the job done in just one day. Connecting the window well to a drainage system or installing a custom concrete window well will naturally take longer, but even the most complicated installations shouldn’t take more than three days.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.

There are more than five window types, but five of the most popular types include casement windows, sliding windows, double-hung windows, picture windows, and awning windows. Each style offers something different. Some are great for ventilation, others for letting in light, and some can do a bit of both. A bow window costs up to $15,000 to install in total. Materials cost anywhere from $1,200 to more than $14,000, and labor is an additional $300 to $1,900. Bow window costs vary based on the size of the window and the frame material. You’ll spend more for custom features or energy-efficient upgrades, too. For comparison, bay window installation costs about $1,000 to $7,000.
