"Family tree came for an estimate a year or so ago and I lost their contact. They called Back this year and we needed their help badly. They removed a trash tree for us and trimmed up the oaks. They were incredibly flexible, quick to operate and pick up. Iâ  m so pleased with their work and communication. They were personable and friendly, we felt like valued clients."

"I had 3 very large trees removed (1) tree alone was probably close to 60à ¢à  à  tall All the stumps were ground out and their cleanup was amazing. They cleaned yard, patio snd the alley. I also have had Edgar and his crew grind out some other underground roots and stumps that needed to be removed for preparing ground and dirt work for concrete slab. Edgar and his crew are always in time, professional and very kind and hardworking If you want the best service for the best price à ¢à  à ¦. Call E G Tree Service for all your needs."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It’s not always easy to tell when a tree is dying, although signs like dropping branches and brittle bark can sometimes offer clues. It can also be difficult to know whether a tree is dead or dormant, especially if it’s a deciduous tree. You’ll want to wait until a growth season to get a good idea of a tree’s health. When in doubt, contact an arborist for a consultation.

The costs vary from $250 to $5,000 per tree, depending on the size, complexity of the trimming, and labor.

You don’t always need a permit to grind a stump, but you might need one depending on your location and the stump’s surroundings. Permits are often needed if the stump is part of a protected tree species, near public areas or utility lines, or close to environmentally sensitive zones like wetlands. Some cities also regulate noise and work hours. Always check local rules before grinding, and contact your city or county office if you're unsure.

How often and long you should water a tree depends on the species and if it is mature or newly planted. The amount of water is also based on the tree's size. A good rule of thumb is approximately 5 gallons per inch of the trunk's diameter.

Adjusting watering to the recommended suggestions for the tree type and weather conditions is vital. For instance, watering trees during a drought is necessary, and you may need to water more frequently than usual.

Coverage varies quite a bit by policy, but most homeowners' insurance policies will cover $500 to $1,000 of the cost of removing a tree. Additionally, if your tree causes damage to your property, like your house, many policies will cover some or all of the costs to repair the damage, depending on why the tree fell.
