"I had two room additions added. Victor and his crew came in and tore out work that had been done incorrectly and left unfinished. They tore out the poorly installed drywall and insulation, installed new insulation, fixed some stubs, installed new drywall, textured, reinstalled 3 doors, installed exterior siding, replaced windows with siding and brick, ground down uneven flooring, installed trim and baseboards, painted interior and exterior, installed gutters, painted concrete floors. They did a great job. This is my third time partnering with Victor on a project and he always comes through."

"I highly recommend The Patch Boys of North Texas. They were quick to respond and come look at my drywall needs. Both Garrett & Jonathan were on time, pleasant, explained what they were doing and cleaned up when the jobs were completed. Will definitely contact this company again for my drywall needs."

"Santiago and his crew did an excellent job. They replaced the drywall in my garage, did the tape and mud, and orange peel texture. I am very satisfied with the end result. Highly recommended"

Drywall FAQs, answered by experts

Certain drywall textures, like sand and sometimes popcorn, can be smoothed by applying skim coats, sanding the walls, or chipping away the texture. However, it’s worth considering removing the texture and starting with a blank canvas. Smoothing textured walls requires a lot of sandpaper and elbow grease and can take longer than just outright removing the texture.

There are six levels of drywall finish, from 0 to 5, that refer to the amount of work performed during the finishing process.

Level 0: Drywall is hung with no finishing work.

Level 1: Tape is placed over the seams between drywall sheets.

Level 2: A thin layer of mud is applied over the tape and screw holes. This level is common for utility rooms or walls that will be covered.

Level 3: A full coat of mud covers the screw holes and tape, but the surface is not sanded. This is often used in garages.

Level 4: This is the most common finish for visible interior walls. It involves applying two coats of mud over seams and screw holes, with sanding between each coat, creating a smooth surface ready for flat paint.

Level 5: This is a high-end finish for luxury homes. It includes full taping, mudding, and sanding, plus a final skim coat over the entire surface before painting.

Yes, you can put paneling over textured walls. Of course, this will come down to personal preference and the type of paneling you want to install. From board-and-batten to shiplap and wainscoting, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Yes, a fan can help drywall mud dry faster by improving air circulation and reducing humidity in the room. Drywall mud dries through evaporation, so increasing airflow speeds up this process. However, you should position the fan to blow across the room rather than directly on the wet mud. This helps prevent drying too quickly, which can cause cracking. You should also use a dehumidifier if high humidity is an issue.

Brick and stucco are a lot more different. You must use picture hanging clips designed for brick walls, or use a plaster rail system with adjustable hooks. Any other type of hanging hardware will cause damage to the bricks behind. You won’t be able to really use nails, either, because they’re not strong enough to go into the bricks.
