"I highly recommend JC Custom Painting. I used JC Custom Painting to paint the interior walls in my home and they did an excellent job. They were very friendly and professional throughout the entire process. The crew was prompt, friendly, and hard-working and they cleaned up nicely afterwards. I would definitely hire them again. I give them 5 stars out of 5! Thanks for a job well done Carlos!"

"Overall, the actual painting was good.  No wood needed to be replaced, so I was hoping the price would be reduced at time of payment, but it wasn't.  He did, however, give the additional Angie's List discount.  The responsiveness to issues by the vendor after the service was provided and paid for was extremely poor.  One of the painters left a 5 gallon bucket of paint and a very large ladder in our backyard.  We only recently found another small can of paint left behind by one of the painters, hidden deep within our bushes in front of the house.  The painters also did not completely caulk part of the trim they painted in the front part of the house.  When the company was told of these items, they promised to come pick them up.  After several promises and several weeks later, they did pickup their ladder but never completed the caulking.  I originally wanted the company to paint the interior of the home based on initial impressions, but after this lack of responsiveness and unprofessionalism, I decided to pay more and go with another Angie's List company.  I was not disappointed in my decision.

To be fair, I must also state that the owner of this company was always very pleasant, but he did not hold his folks accountable for providing the same good service he started. "

"The owner walked through the house, not at the scheduled time, and prepared the estimate. Action was the lower of two bidders by 14%. I hired them to work on the house prior to my moving in. They began the afternoon that I closed on the house in the morning. Great on starting the job! I left town to pack my old house for a week, my mistake. What it now appears they did is just put texture over the old wallpaper in several rooms, because they now are peeling at the edges. Also, one bathroom they ran short of paint. Instead of buying another can to finish the job, they just barely painted over the wallpaper and they certainly didn't texture it. In another bath they didn't even texture or paint over a space between two door frames. They also oversprayed paint on to trim. Fate hit in the form of Ike when they were about 95% done since some spots were obviously not painted or textured. We didn't have power for 2 weeks and I had trouble spotting the mistakes. They forgot they hadn't finished and sent me the bill. I told them to come and finish during daylight, they declined until the power came back. Then they sent one guy out who seemed rushed like he had some place else to be. I complained about the lack of texture within 1 or 2 inches of trim and bathtubs. They told me they couldn't do that. Since then, I've applied texture where I had to go and put on a second coat since some walls had little white dots where the texture material showed instead of paint. I caught several of these on the final visit, but I have found more over time. These aren't single mistakes. It's consistent mistakes over several rooms. I got a quick and cheap job. The quality was bad. I've had the other painter in to fix the trim and paint another room. They removed all wallpaper instead of hiding it. They textured within 1/2 inch or less without a special request. They were very careful not to overspray."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Many types of wallpaper exist, from removable peel-and-stick options to more permanent options that involve pasting. You can also find wallpaper that you can paint over, wallpaper with a texture, and wallpaper made from various materials, such as vinyl. Some types of wallpaper are washable, which can be a great option for kitchens or if your household has small children.

No, you don’t always have to remove old wallpaper before applying a new layer. However, you should pull off the existing wallpaper if it’s cracked, peeling, or in poor condition. We’d also recommend against putting wallpaper over textured or dark-colored wallpaper because the old layer may be visible through the new one. In addition, if you try to hang new wallpaper over vinyl-coated wallpaper, the adhesive might not stick properly.

No. If you overlap seams, the wallpaper will not come out flat. In addition to possibly throwing off your pattern match between rolls, overlapping seems necessary. If wallpaper is properly acclimated, and temperature and moisture conditions are optimal during installation, there is no reason to fear shrinkage as it dries.

You shouldn’t need extra adhesive for peel-and-stick backsplash tile. The adhesive on the back of the tile sheets should do the trick. However, if you experience issues with the tile peeling or falling off, make sure the wall you’re working on isn’t textured, as that can prevent the materials from properly adhering.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.
