"We hired this company because we had some exterior bricks coming apart. Darrell showed up, showed us the solution, gave us a quote and went right to work! Excellent customer service, quality work and great price. Cleaned up before leaving. Will definitely recommend! Thank you."

"They are professional painters and did an excellent job on my ceiling. I had the entryway, the living room, kitchen, laundry room and halfway popcorn removed from ceiling, retextured and then painted ceiling white paint. It was a beautiful job. The only complaint I had was one of the workers dropped or stood on my new dryer and left a dent on it, and he didn't tell me about it. I found out about it a day later. Also Anthony Hernandez was supposed to come after they finished the work to see if their work was good or if I had any complaints and he didn't do that. Other than those two things, I was pleased with the work, and I would hire them again."

"Selvin and his crew did an OUTSTANDING job!!! They went above and beyond on every aspect of the job. We have a very old house, so repairs can be a bit tricky, but not for Selvin and his crew. We added new areas to repair several times during the project and they never complained or jacked up our bill. Their pricing was very fair and a lot less than others who had bid on our project. Selvin and his crew were honest, polite, respectful, punctual and very talented at their jobs. Honestly, we never dreamed that the repaired areas and garage ceiling would ever look as good as it does now. We would definitely hire them again and will recommend them others."

"Tom and Jesse were very professional in all my dealings with them. They arrived on time, had the necessary equipment and supplies to complete all the work and even made suggestions for future energy efficiency projects. We worked through my prioritized list of projects and got everything checked off. This was my second experience working with them and it could not have gone better. I highly recommend using Affordable Fixers for all those little projects around the house that you never seem to get done. Extremely nice guys and well worth it!"

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

The cost to repair a ceiling after a water leak can vary, with averages ranging from $419 to $1,359, or $45 to $55 per square foot. Smaller patches may cost around $150. The final price depends on the size of the affected area and the extent of the damage. Remember that you will also need to repair the source of the leak, such as roof damage or a plumbing issue, which can cost an additional $200 to $1,550. Depending on the situation, you might also face costs for repainting or repairing floors. For an accurate estimate, it is best to get a quote from a professional.

If your popcorn ceiling is asbestos-free and you are ready for a new look, painting is an option. As long as there is no flaking or other wear, a new coat of paint might be just the thing to refresh the old ceiling. The best way to paint a popcorn ceiling is to use either a paint sprayer or a thick roller to cover the popcorn texture fully. (Do not forget to dust it off beforehand!)

“Note that if you eventually want to remove the popcorn ceiling, a painted ceiling is a labor-intensive job to remove and will cost more,” says Bob Tschudi. “Once painted, the process of removing the popcorn ceiling requires physical scraping as opposed to a spray-and-scrape approach. It’s very labor-intensive, and thus more costly.”

Yes. Sagging ceilings often indicate more severe problems, such as structural damage, roof leaks, and pest infestations. As the sagging expands, your ceiling may eventually collapse, posing a threat to your physical safety and leading to expensive repair and restoration costs. That’s why you need to fix sagging ceilings as soon as you notice them.

If your popcorn ceiling has noticeable cracks, you may want to have it checked by a professional before cleaning it. Adding any moisture or disturbing the ceiling may worsen the cracks, so find out if your ceiling needs to be repaired by a local contractor before cleaning.

The easiest way to remove texture from walls is the soak-and-scrape method. You’ll need to spray a section of the wall with water and let the water soak in and soften the texture. Then, you need to scrape the texture off using a drywall taping knife. This method works best with unpainted walls since paint prevents water from saturating the textured joint compound.
