"We hired this company because we had some exterior bricks coming apart. Darrell showed up, showed us the solution, gave us a quote and went right to work! Excellent customer service, quality work and great price. Cleaned up before leaving. Will definitely recommend! Thank you."

"I hired White Lion Painting to paint the entire interior of my home. We painted every surface including, walls, cabinets, baseboards, ceilings, doors, trim and even fireplace trim. Antonio and his guys treated my home with respect and arrived on time every day. Antonio had guys at my house on a daily basis, including Saturday, Sunday, and Memorial Day. No gaps in work days and wondering where people are. These guys work hard. His guys do quality work and only top quality products are used. They prep surfaces and cover all valuables. Ever, one of the crew leads, did a fantastic job floating my entire living room ceiling to ensure it was flat and all cracks were repaired. He shot new texture on the floated ceiling and anywhere else that needed attention. All holes, cracks, and wall imperfections are fixed. Fantastic skill. Antonio won’t leave until you’re happy. I had a few items I wanted him to look at and he didn’t hesitate to not only fix those, but find other things I didn’t even see. He has a great eye for detail and gets his guys to your property quickly to address any concerns. Antonio and his crew even returned after my whole house remodel to touch up and paint my trim that was installed after my flooring was done. White Lion Painting completes the entire process and doesn’t leave you hanging, which is everything when you’re doing a stressful remodel. In painting, you get what you pay for. If you want the cheapest, go with the lowest bid, but if you want the best, use White Lion Painting."

"These guys are the best! I had them handle all my interior painting including my walls, ceilings, trim, cabinets and staircase. I had them handle my Sheetrock and trim as well. Very careful, made it right when needed, got it done in a reasonable amount of time at a fair price! I have referred them whenever asked. Definitely recommend, and will be hiring again."

Emergency services offered

"Starlight technician missed first appointment and did not call.  After I called them they claimed it was because the technician was waiting for a part (which was never needed and they charged me for the part as well).  Once the technician arrived, it took him 2 hours longer than he anticipated due to his own negligence.  First he said that he forgot that he was going to convert the existing cat5e telephone to data, thus he did not have proper amount of keystones.  So this was never completed.  Secondly, they charged and installed a new network switch which was not needed as I had an extra one which the technician saw.  Then was he "completed" his work and was ready to leave, I asked him about a connection to the router, which he did not check and this took him another hour to "fix", which I had to pay for.  During this time he disconnected a hardwire solution that I had from the router to the computer, then tried to fix that, could not, and left the original ethernet jack dangling from the wall and an explanation that he really does know what he is doing but can't quite figure this out!  At this point he was complaining about being late to his next appointment and then told me to just use the wireless feature on my computer since he couldn't figure out what was going on.  I can't believe how incompetent the technician Jeremy was, and no one from Starlight followed up after the work, and I never received a follow up call regarding the purchase and installation of the speakers, probably because they knew they did bad work and did not want to fix their problems!  For a company that has several great reviews on Angies, I was very surprised.  Needless to say I ended up hiring another contractor and spent good money with them that Starlight could have earned.

"I contracted with JPR to install a wall so that I could convert an open room into an office. They were very fair with their pricing, and did a marvelous job installing the wall to meet my expectations. The renovation included putting in transom windows, a barn door, overhead recessed lighting, and a ceiling fan, along with the required electrical wiring and switches, as well as miscellaneous hardware. Along with installing the wall they also needed to texturize the wall and paint it to match the existing interior. The new wall and completed office now fit in seamlessly and looks like it was always here. We also utilized Roman to install a new pair of windows in our bathroom and plan to use JPR going forward to help us with our other renovation needs. Roman and the other employees he subcontracts did a wonderful job, and they are very friendly and easy to work with. We are pleased with our decision to use JPR!"

The Rhino Energy Crew include some of the most professional, knowledgeable, and respectful folks ever to help us improve our home.  Not only was the price fair and the work done in a timely manner, they by far exceeded our expectations.  I can't wait to see the savings on our electric bill this summer. I would not hesitate to call them for other jobs at my home...they really can do it all.  The repair to my garage wall( where I hit it with my car) is better than the original tape/ bed/texture job.  I would definitely recommend Rhino Energy Solutions to my family and friends.

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

No, not all popcorn ceilings have asbestos, but a vast majority do. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned its use in 1973, although it still may have been used up through the early ‘90s. But, in general, homes built or remodeled before the early ‘80s likely utilized materials with asbestos. That being said, a professional test is the only way to determine for sure.

The easiest way to remove texture from walls is the soak-and-scrape method. You’ll need to spray a section of the wall with water and let the water soak in and soften the texture. Then, you need to scrape the texture off using a drywall taping knife. This method works best with unpainted walls since paint prevents water from saturating the textured joint compound.

Challenges include potential asbestos exposure, uneven finishes, or damage to the underlying ceiling if not done correctly.

After removing any type of skylight, you have a few options for the ceiling. You can patch and repair the ceiling to match the surrounding area, ensuring a smooth and seamless finish. Alternatively, you can install a light fixture or a ceiling fan in place of the skylight to maintain functionality and enhance the room's lighting and ventilation. Ultimately, the choice depends on your preferences and the specific requirements of the space. No matter what you choose, you’ll probably want to call in a pro to help.

Yes, you just may need to add an extra coat or two of primer to already painted ceilings. This will help mask the old paint and give you a fresh canvas on which to add your new texture.
