"We experienced beeping coming from our key pads on our ADT system. Certain zones were reported to check. We replaced batteries in the smoke detectors but that did not resolve our problem. Called Maximus Security, Kevin performed a complete system check. Found our back up battery was low on reserve power and replaced. Also rebooted system and performed certain coding that resolved our issues. All this for a very reasonable charge. What’s better, we got a call from Kevin a week later as a follow up call just to check if all was well. 5 star service!"

"We have our second home in the mountain so they were able to send it and he was able to work with our installers and it worked out fine. So far we were are pleased with it. We were with another security system for 12 years and we changed because their selection of product was of a higher grade. They are excellent."

"I’m a big fan of Smith Thompson Home Security! Their rate is only 16.95 per month and their customer service is fantastic. When they came out to turn on the existing system in the our new home they thoroughly explained how the alarm worked and took time to make sure everything was functioning as it should (and didn’t charge anything for this activation visit!). Also, they don’t charge for false alarms which is great cause I’ve had three of those already! I’m really pleased with my experience with Smith Thompson and highly recommend them."

You should always install cameras at exterior doors and windows. Other areas where you should place cameras are your front and back yards, the garage and driveway, common living areas, hallways and staircases, and the basement. Remember, you can start with a small Wi-Fi security camera system and always add more cameras if needed.

Smart deadbolts are a worthwhile investment for homeowners seeking more convenience, flexibility, and advanced features than a traditional deadbolt can provide. While a strong conventional deadbolt offers sufficient security for most, smart deadbolts provide significant upgrades.

Key benefits include keyless entry via smartphone, keypads, or biometric sensors, and the ability to lock or unlock your door remotely. You can also manage access for guests by creating temporary codes, eliminating the need for physical keys and the risk of them being lost or duplicated. Many models integrate with smart home systems and offer features like automatic locking, entry-exit monitoring, and tamper alerts with encryption for enhanced security.

However, there are downsides to consider. Smart deadbolts are more expensive than their traditional counterparts and rely on batteries and wireless networks to function. This dependency introduces potential vulnerabilities, such as hacking by skilled intruders and privacy concerns. Installation can also be more complex. Despite these drawbacks, the added layer of convenience and protection makes them a compelling option for many.

Yes, adding ease of use and remote access via smartphones.

Your best bet is to install a bracket that secures to the bottom of the unit and the side of your house. You should still secure the AC unit in the open window using some of the other methods already listed, but a bracket is best to ensure that it stays put—both during operation and in case of an attempted theft.

Yes, you can install a home security system in an old house. In fact, you can install a security system in any home. Some wiring may need to be added, but most home security systems do not require a lot of additional wiring. Wireless security systems can easily be installed with minimal additional wiring, if any at all.
