"Looked at several foundation companies but decided to go with Foundation Support Specialist and I'm glad I chose them. The crew, Christopher Garcia foreman, Justin Hill co-foreman, Austin, Frank and Hector were professional, respectful, courteous hard workers. I was really please the way they tackled a mortared brick flower bed to get to install the piers. They reassemble it perfectly. Chris was really great about answering all my questions and he explained the process thoroughly as I looked on during some of the installation. Clean up was well done. Job well done by all ."

"The team leader, Steven and his crew are true professionals and second to none! When they arrived Steven took the time to explain the process for the repair and ensured that I clearly understood how it was going to be accomplished. I'm very impressed with the communication between Steven and his crew, each team member is very skilled in their craft. Upon completion of the repair, Steven walked around to ensure I was completely satisfied with the workmanship. They left the area around my home spotless! I would recommend Baird Foundation Repair to family and friends! If anyone has a requirement for Foundation Repair I highly recommend giving Baird Foundation a call. Thanks again to Steven, his team and Baird Foundation for the outstanding work!"

"We are writing our review out of the sheer appreciation and gratitude that we have for the Hercules Foundation Repair and Remodeling professionals. At our 1920â s home on the Southside of San Antonio, we have always struggled with our foundation ( pier and beam ) and over the past 20 years we have had numerous foundation companies try their hand at trying to â GET IT RIGHTâ ! This is until we called and hired Hercules Foundation Repair and Remodeling. The Hercules Team: Allen, Justin and Felix were impressive in their assessment of determining exactly what the issue has been over the years and how best to tackle it head on! We felt reassured after our initial meeting with them and found that our estimate for the project was reasonable. We were very relieved to know that we had found a foundation company that knew what they were doing and stood by their warranty! During this time, we were in the process of renovating our home and to begin the work we needed, our foundation had to be perfect so that our other renovation projects would stand on the work completed by Hercules. The day of the job, Felix came in with his crew and explained all that was going to be done to address our foundation issues and the entire project was done in two days working all day each day while keeping us posted on the ins and outs of the project. As customers, new to Hercules, we felt like we had finally found the competent professionals that would save us thousands of dollars in years to come. As we discussed it, we realized that we had spent well over $30,000 in foundation work over the years since 1994 (year of purchase) and we were still in the same situation... that is, until we started our working relationship with HERCULES! We were pleased with the work. After the crew left, we went under the house to see what all they had done and were so happy to see the thoroughness of the work and even more impressive was the cleanliness they left our home both under and around the work area. In our experience with renovations and repairs, we have had our share of messy contractors who cut corners and HERCULES in not one of them! A few weeks after the work was completed, and with the continued rain we were having this summer in San Antonio, we worried about the original issue of rain/water going under our home and possibly effecting the work. We called Allen and explained our worry and he immediately scheduled a time to come to the home himself to make sure that his companies work was holding up. While here, Allen made some additional suggestions to ensure that we would not have to ever worry again about drainage no matter what kind of rain we received, at which point we decided on a French Drain. Allen immediately made calls to the office and to his foreman Felix to schedule us as soon as possible for the French Drain. We were comforted to know that this additional measure, that we mutually agreed upon, would reinforce what we had already done to the foundation of our home and save us money over time! Thanks Allen. My husband and I found it important to take the time to share our experience with others and support this exceptional company of professionals on a job well done! It is our hope to build a home one day in the near future and we know that when that time comes, there will be only one person I will call for our foundation work â Allen at Hercules Foundation Repair and Remodeling! Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, concrete is significantly stronger than masonry, especially if the concrete pour includes reinforcements, like steel rebar. Concrete is a uniform material that can withstand compression, sheer force, and tensile force as long as it’s reinforced. Masonry involves the use of mortar or grout to connect individual building materials, like brick, stone, or tile. Mortar and grout are also reasonably strong and resist compression well, but they don’t come close to the strength of poured concrete.

No, using a power sander on brick is not recommended because the force of the sander can destroy brick's fragile outer layer. Even using sandpaper on brick is discouraged because of the damage its abrasiveness can cause.

Yes, you can do German schmear on stone. You can account for the more textured and rough surface of stone by using a large paintbrush instead of a putty knife. A brush allows you to drag mortar across the stone to get it into all the cracks and crevices. However, a brush will cover more of the surface, so you may need a wet sponge to scrub excess mortar and expose more of your stone.

Drilling into brick or mortar requires the use of a masonry drill bit. Masonry drill bits appear similar to standard drill bits except for the leading tip of the bit. The tip has a bulky carbide arrow-shaped end slightly larger than the rest of the bit shaft. Standard or high-speed drill bits designed for making holes in wood or metal don’t have the ruggedness or design shape you need to drill into brick. They may not go through the brick at all, and if they do, they’re more likely to overheat, crack, or dull before you finish drilling.

It’s called cobblestone because it’s made of stones that are “cobbed” together. A cob is a term that refers to rounded lumps. Originally, cobblestone streets were made from pebbles and stones gathered from riverbeds that had been rounded over time by the passage of water. The term has nothing to do with a cobbler, which is the term for someone who makes and fixes shoes.
