"We got several quotes from different contractors to pour a new concrete slab driveway replacing an old asphalt/gravel one. JFB Concrete not only came in lower than other bids, but were also the only ones who weren't afraid to talk to the city about any necessary permits. Indeed, other contractors told us scare stories about the expense and difficulty. The new driveway was installed on-time and on-budget. When the neighbor complained (unnecessarily) about a small detail, JFB went above-and-beyond, for no additional cost, to fix the issue for me in the name of keeping things civil with my neighbors. I would highly recommend them for any suitable future jobs."

Concrete is typically the best material for a driveway if you’re looking for longevity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of maintenance. If your location is consistently below freezing, asphalt may be a better choice.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. When asphalt cures, it typically changes from a very dark black hue to a lighter, more matte gray color. Cured asphalt also won’t be tacky or sticky to the touch or emit any odors from the asphalt mix. Additionally, the surface of fully cured asphalt won’t deform under any pressure.
