"The Basement Kings finished their LARGE job this morning, and I can’t praise them enough! They had a long, difficult job, but no complaints. When they discovered a problem, they fixed it. No problem, that’s their job. They found the water problem had a lot to do with drainage, so they worked outside in cold & rain & developed a system to carry water away from the house. That, to me, was over & above, but they said their main objective was to get & keep the basement dry, so they did what they had to do with no complaints. Now you can’t ask for better than that - they give their all! I am totally amazed!!"

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

For safer projects in Temple, clearly mark work areas and use temporary fencing to keep children and pets away from hazards. Schedule noisy or disruptive tasks when family members are out, and use air purifiers to control dust indoors. Provide pets with a secure, quiet room, and talk with kids about staying clear of tools and equipment. Consider short-term relocation if major foundation work is planned.

Helpful?

In Temple, homes with visible foundation gaps, sloping floors, or doors that suddenly misalign—especially after heavy rains or drought—often need a structural assessment. Properties built before the 1980s or those near Lake Belton may face unique soil movement issues. If you’re planning a second-story addition or have noticed exterior brick separation, consulting a structural engineer is highly recommended.

Helpful?

In Temple, improper foundation repair or skipping a detailed soil analysis can quickly lead to uneven settling due to expansive clay. Overlooking proper drainage design or using substandard materials in load-bearing walls increases the risk of structural failure. Ensuring all structural modifications meet local building codes and account for high winds and heavy rain is essential for long-term safety and durability.

Helpful?

Delaying structural engineering in Temple can cause minor cracks to expand rapidly, especially during wet or dry weather cycles. This can lead to uneven floors, water intrusion, and even compromised load-bearing walls. Prolonged neglect may result in more invasive repairs, potential safety hazards, and challenges with insurance claims or property sales due to non-compliance with local codes.

Helpful?

Temple homeowners should schedule yearly structural assessments, especially after major storms. Regularly check for new wall or ceiling cracks, maintain gutters to direct water away from the foundation, and inspect crawl spaces for moisture. During dry spells, use soaker hoses to stabilize soil around your home. Keeping trees trimmed and monitoring for shifting patios or driveways can also help prevent structural issues.
