They had a subcontractor hand excavate the old water line and fill the trench in later. There was a modest hick-up with the back-filling of the trench in that there was some delay in getting the trench back-filled after all of the other work was complete. This did not delay restoration of service. All of the actual plumbing work went as promised. The leak was discovered the night before by a neighbor who informed the city water department. A city service person notified me of the leak. I selected Able Plumbing and Remodeling from Angie's List and call them that night. A plumber showed up the next morning and scoped the work to be done. A crew of men arrived a short time later to expose the entire 1968 water line. Within a few hours, the plumber returned with all the tools and materials needed to complete the job. The work was completed around 5:00 PM. The plumbing work and materials fully met expectations. Water pressure was also greatly improved because the old line was almost closed off with rust and deposits. We are very satisfied with the experience. They drilled a hole under the walkway on the northwest corner of the walkway to run a pipe along a trench to the middle of the yard along the fence where another deeper gravel pit was established about 25' from the house. The pipe was then extended to the border of my property (another 25') ending in another overflow gravel pit. To catch all the water running from the roof of my 20x20' patio, both gutter downspouts were connected to a pipe laid at a right angle to the pipe along the fence. It took about a week to complete all the work and I am happy to report that during past rain storms no water entered my garage. The work was done very professionally. Mr. Hebert is very good in explaining things. He and his helpers are very friendly and their good work is very much appreciated. Mr. Hebert did not use heavy equipment and the project involved a lot of digging. However, he took great care of my sprinkler system pipes and electrical wiring system, which were in the pass of the work. He cleaned up any debris and took it away. I would refer Mr. Hebert for similar work. My yard was left tidy each day. Anyone who's seen the work has commented on how good it looks. Nothing was a hassle or to hard. It really seemed like everything was included...no hidden fees along the way. I have had a lot of contractors in and around our house over the last year, and this is the first time I feel I can write about a positive experience from start to finish. I would use them again and I will recommended them to all my friends. Thank you Hou-stone!

Another came out to look at the situation for free, but then could not give any reasonable estimate, and I just got the feeling it would be a never-ending money pit. Jason with Abacus then came out and explained our options, what challenges we'd face with excavation, and a few ways we could save some money. He gave us firm quotes for two options. I thought they were high, but I also got the sense they were true professionals and would do good work and follow through well. We were not disappointed. They had the water on to the house by the end of the next day, which was our biggest concern. There was a delay getting the city out to inspect, but Jason had prepared us up front for that possibility, so that was OK. Nothing was left behind. Everyone who saw pictures of the job in progress and equipment being used (mini excavator, barge) commented that Lakeshore appeared to be doing a professional job. Their mini excavator did some minor trenching damage to the yard with its treads but nothing more than can be expected. Cleared land for us, took down a couple of trees with just a mini excavator great work, great operator
Let me start by saying that home warranty companies employ some of the worst contractors I have ever met and because of this I finally turned to Angie's List. My first unit that would continuously pump hot air into my home whether the thermostat was on or not had been evaluated by no less...

Outstanding job, as seen in the photos. Ronnie was referred by Pavestone distributor, one of two contacts they gave me. One bid the job site unseen at $9000, Ronnie met me at the property twice and did much more additional work in addition to installing pavers at $10 / sq ft. Price was...

"At first the company seemed super helpful. Eric was always pleasant and seemed to be supporting us. HOWEVER, they told us that they were dealing directly with insurance and that we wouldn't need to worry about anything. Therefore no costs, no options, no explanations of services were ever given to us. When the bill came back higher than insurance would cover they assured us that Joyce was the best in the business and would get it taken care of for us. the gap ended up being $3000 out of our pocket and as far as I can tell, no genuine effort was made to come to an agreement because we would have to pay it anyway. They were not actually working for us. In addition, the whole process was frustrating because appointments were made with us, where we canceled plans and they never showed or called. They removed equipment before it was dry and then covered themselves by putting it back in. At the end of the day our house is dry as is our bank account. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!"

FAQs for excavation projects in Taylor Lake Village, TX
Unfortunately, some plumbing scenarios, like a broken sewer pipe repair, will require excavation to complete the job. Plumbing excavation costs range from $30 to $70per cubic foot. However, if you need additional trenching, expect to pay an extra $4 to $12per linear foot. Keep in mind that these costs are on top of the plumbing repair costs, and they don’t account for labor costs. Consult your excavation specialist to determine an accurate estimate for your job.
The average cost for pool excavation is $2,500. This cost can range from $450 to $4,500, depending on the pool shape and size, time of year, and any need to move buried utilities.
When excavating for your pool, you might have to move existing utilities. You can expect to pay an additional $15 to $25per linear foot to move gas lines. To move a septic system, it’ll cost an additional $2,000 to $20,000. A pool that is 10 feet by 12 feet averages $450 to excavate, and a 20-foot-by-40-foot pool averages $3,020.
The cost for residential excavation is $3,200 on average, ranging between $50 and $200per cubic yard. Total costs could range from $500 to $15,000, depending on the project type, yard size, and soil type.
When a project needs an excavator, the contractor will subcontract one as part of the larger project. If you hire an excavation specialist, you can expect to pay between $40 and $180per hour. When excavating, if you have soil with excessive rocks or clay deposits, expect an additional cost of $200 to $1,200.
Warm weather seasons like spring and summer are ideal times to excavate due to the ground being softer and easier to dig through. However, it is important to note that bad weather, like heavy blizzard conditions or torrential rainfall, can prolong the project length, increasing costs. That’s why it’s best to avoid excavating during winter or hurricane season, depending on your home’s location.
While completing an excavation project yourself is possible, we don’t recommend it. You’ll likely need to buy or rent the equipment necessary for the job. This equipment costs as $100per hour or $2,200 weekly, increasing by as much as 50% for larger jobs.
In addition, completing an excavating job yourself poses a safety risk. If proper marking hasn't occurred, you risk hitting buried cables and other critical piping, like gas and water lines. Additionally, if working with excavation equipment, you’ll need to steer clear of any overhead wires. Leaving this project to an excavating professional is best.
