Small jobs welcome

"They did a good job installing the storm doors. The storm doors are excellent quality (30 yrs). It took some time to finally get the installation completed as ordering the doors was a bit time extensive and I had to call them to find out the time line. All things considered I give them an B+ or 4 stars. The installers were basically social introverts..."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"I received a confirmation from Choice Home for my claim within hours of filing my claim. Included in the confirmation was the Contractors Name, Phone number and the window for service. I was contacted by the Contractor within the service time window, however it was towards the end of the service window. We missed each other call. Therefore my technician visit was re-scheduled for first visit next day. Next day I was contacted by the tech prior to his arrival and arrived as promised. The technician was respectful of our property, he used shoe protectors and ensure all was cleaned before he left. He quickly identified two problems with A/C and corrected them, The technician explained what was covered by Choice Home Warranty and what was not. He provided a fair price for the extra work for use to decide. The technician also identified another issue with the installation of the U/V light in our A/C and provided valuable maintenance tips. In all it was a positive experience."

"Fabian completely remodeled our kitchen with the cabinets that we had always wanted. He did a great and accurate job, and also kept us updated during this project. Fabian is our go to guy! In addition to kitchen remodel he also constructed a new add on to a shop that incudes a storage room and bathroom and installed a septic system. Fabian is the best and any job completed by him is always done great!"

"Ashley’s Touch has been a great resource for me. I am very particular about my wood floors and bathrooms. They were happy to accommodate my procedure for cleaning the wood floors and their service got better every time they came out. It’s been my experience that it takes a few visits for a cleaning service to get a new customer’s specifics down, but they were attentive to make that happen for me."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

While the benefits of garage door screens usually outweigh the downsides, there are some cons to installing one. First off, they can be quite expensive, especially if you’re having a professional install a retracting screen or a custom size screen. Second, they let fresh air and natural light in, but they also don’t provide the same privacy from people in the neighborhood that a solid door does. As you might guess, screens also won’t insulate your garage, so they’re often not usable in colder weather.

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.

Screen repair is always worthwhile, as tears and holes in your windows and door screens are unsightly and allow pests and debris into your home, rendering the screen useless. The faster you repair your screens, the faster you can open your windows and doors freely to let the fresh air in. Consider repairing multiple door and window screens during one appointment with a screen repair technician to make the investment and labor costs worth it.

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.

There are different types of screen materials available when purchasing a screen door, but the two main options are fiberglass and aluminum. Fiberglass is lightweight and affordable, but can stretch out, so it needs to be replaced more often. Aluminum has a higher upfront cost, but is more sturdy. Aluminum can be more difficult to install, even if you know how to replace screen door mesh.
