"I had a bit of an emergency situation on my hands involving a tree that split and was threatening power lines as well as my neighborsâ  property. OS Tree Service got to me right away and were able to handle my job immediately. It cost about what I was expecting considering the size of the tree. They also hauled everything away for a relatively small extra fee (I wasnâ  t sure if I wanted this at first, but Iâ  m glad I had them do it. Thereâ  s no way my bulk pick up guys would have been able to handle it). They finished quickly and cleaned everything up wonderfully. I cannot suggest them enough."

"Josh did an impressive job getting an old dead tree cut down. Dropped it right where it needed to go and was quick to cut it up and shred it. Definitely an honest and hard worker and did a turn key job. I recommend Josh for your tree removal needs!"

"Dr. Bob White & the crew were extremely courteous. He knew exactly what was wrong with my Elm tree & immediately treated it. He was more than fair with me on the cost. I have several more trees that need to be treated. Be assured that BW Insect Control and Tree Care will be the ones that I will call. In my opinion, he is the best."

"We hired Bill and his team to cut down three trees, grind the stumps, and cut the wood into firewood. He was very professional. The work was done well and finished in a timely fashion, for a good price. I would definitely recommend Bill and his team. We have also hired them to put in a retaining wall for us. Looking forward to continuing doing business with them!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

It depends on the type of tree. Typically, late spring on the cusp of winter is ideal for trees about to emerge from dormancy and produce new buds. That said, late fall is ideal for certain deciduous trees prone to bleeding sap. Avoid trimming trees in early spring, when they’re prone to disease.

Dead trees are dangerous for several reasons. They are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failure, which can pose a significant safety risk to people, vehicles, and nearby structures. Dead trees can also harbor pests like termites, which may spread to other trees or your home. If a tree died from a disease, it could spread the illness to healthy trees. Additionally, the dry wood is highly flammable, increasing fire risk.

Generally, no, tree topping isn’t a good technique, and you should avoid using it in most cases. Tree topping may be the only good option to save a tree following severe damage after a storm, but in most other cases, it’s not the right choice. Tree topping can leave trees vulnerable to disease and further damage, and most pros will suggest against it.

Generally, you do not have the right to take fruit from a neighbor's tree, even if the branches overhang your property. The fruit is considered the property of the tree's owner. While you may have the right to trim branches that cross into your yard, the fruit on them typically still belongs to your neighbor. However, laws can vary by state and municipality. In some areas, branches that extend into your yard or trees that straddle a property line may entitle you to some of the fruit. The best course of action is to speak with your neighbor, as they may be happy to share. If a conversation is not possible, check your local regulations before picking any fruit.
