Small jobs welcome

"Hired Efrain to reface outdated honey oak cabinets and to built an island and a few additional cabinets around our fridge. From the first meeting he was not pushy, listened to everything we were considering and provided us with a very competitive price. He went above and beyond at every step of the way during the whole construction process. Made sure that we were happy with the product that he was creating. Listened to any of our concerns and was more than willing to create custom cabinets for our needs. The final product far exceeded both and my wife’s and my expectations. He cleaned up every night prior to leaving both inside the house and the drive way since he builds everything on site. We will be recommending him to anyone that is in need of a quality cabinet maker."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Custom cabinets made from solid wood are the most durable, lasting 20 to 50 years with proper maintenance. In comparison, prefabricated cabinets have a lifespan nearly half as long. The longevity of any cabinet depends on factors like upkeep, the amount of heat and moisture in the home, and general wear and tear. Popular hardwood options for long-lasting cabinets include oak, cherry, maple, walnut, and hickory. While these materials are a worthwhile investment for those planning to stay in their home for decades, their durability comes at a higher price compared to alternatives like furniture board, laminate, and plywood. The average cost for solid wood cabinets ranges from $100 to $1,200 per linear foot.

To install cabinet doors evenly, it’s important to make sure that all drilled holes and hardware are in their right places and aligned properly. You can achieve the ideal placement by using a level, straightedge, or other measuring tool. In the event that your cabinet doors are not installed evenly, most hinges allow you to adjust them so that your doors can be perfectly lined up.

If you’re brave enough to tackle building your own cabinet bases, you’re brave enough to install them yourself. You’ll need a stud finder to get you started, but the installation will be a breeze if you’ve already done all the hard work to build the cabinet bases yourself. If you’re hanging upper cabinets, you’ll need a helper, though, to balance the weight of the cabinets and make the process easier.

Yes, there are some options for pre-built inset cabinets—and RTA ones, too—but the selection can be somewhat limited. Many homeowners who decide on inset cabinets choose to have them custom made.

There are three primary ways to attach upper kitchen cabinets to a wall, and installers may use more than one method at a time. The most common method is to drive screws through the back of the cabinets and into studs in the wall behind. Sometimes cabinets are glued to the wall with strong adhesive. Often a combination of screws and adhesive is desirable. The last way is by hanging the cabinets on hardware brackets that attach to the wall before cabinet installation.
