"Ed Riley is extremely knowledgeable about what causes lighting and how to protect from it. He explained to me which and how structures develop static electricity that lead to lighting discharges in a way that the physics made sense to me. They were also reasonably priced and kept their word. Definitely recommend them."

"This had to be one of the best customer service experiences that I have ever had.  Esmer who is the office manager reached out to us and asked if we were okay and whether we preferred someone come out on Friday night and work on our unit or on Saturday morning.  We chose to have the come by at about midnight.  The gentleman who came by was extremely professional and friendly.  Within 3 hours, he tried to find if it was another issue in efforts to save us money; however, we were not so lucky.  His final verdict was a new unit.  He provided us options on units with various costs, but he assured us that he would come by first thing in the morning to ensure that we had a temporary replacement unit to cool our house.  Talk about awesome customer service.  It was not long before the unit was up and working until my husband and I decided which unit to go with.  The following Wednesday, Esmer had her guys standing by and ready to come place our new unit in our home.  Overall, it was an absolutely fantastic experience and I felt confident knowing that if anything happens in the future with our unit that these guys will come by no matter the date or time.  Great job Cytech and thank you.

"Jim for Donhohues Lightning Rods installed the lightning rod system in my home. When the work was done I was very happy as their installer came as per promised time, and perform the work. Before giving them the work Jim completely sold me their work ethics, quality, and service. There was a minor issue and his team took complete ownership of this issue and talked to me in detail. They provide a very good explanation to satisfy me. I am a happy customer."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The Biden Administration banned the sale of incandescent light bulbs for general service lamps in 2023. All household light bulbs must meet a minimum efficiency of 45 lumens per watt, three times that of a standard incandescent light bulb.

The main motivation was to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. It is expected that banning incandescent light bulbs will cut over 200 million metric tons of carbon emissions over the next 30 years. Some bulbs are exempt, like chandelier lights and Christmas lights.

It prevents electrical surges, protects your home from things like electrical fires, and prevents you from getting shocked if an errant surge runs through your power line. Without grounded wires, your appliances could also get damaged during lightning storms.

A 100 amp electrical service panel can't convert into a 200 amp panel simply by switching the breakers or adding circuits. Upgrading from 100 to 200 amps typically requires replacing the circuit box and updating the electrical service coming into the house. Your electrician will handle the details of the project to ensure a safe and thorough installation.

Electrical fires are unique from other fire types because they have the potential to deliver electric shocks in addition to being on fire. Avoid serious injury from possible electrical emergency situations by avoiding the use of water, foam-based fire extinguishers, wet-chemical fire extinguishers,  flour, or baking powder to put out an electrical fire.

When wiring a switch, the power typically comes into the receptacle first. The neutral wire goes straight to the outlet, while the hot wire is split. You'll need a wire nut to splice the hot wire back to one of the receptacles, but you will also tie another wire into that same wire nut and run to the switch. That way, you can control the flow of electricity to that particular receptacle by turning the switch on and off.
