"We hired this company in 2016 to do a major remodel of half of our house. The initial estimate was 85K and we were told it would be completed in about three months. It ended up costing us 115K and dragged on for nine months. Some weeks, they only showed up for one day. I constantly called and texted their foreman and was generally ignored. They overcharged for everything, installed cheap windows and siding, and performed substandard work that had to be repeated. They laid an uneven concrete foundation and then tiled over it. It was so bad we dropped a marble at one end, and it rolled across the room. They had to jackhammer up the tile and redo the floor. Their painters used brushes to paint our new cabinets and did the job so badly they had to sand them twice and repaint, and we still have streaks. One was drunk every day on the job. The experience was a nightmare. We looked at their construction flaws every day. In the end, my wife and I threw them out of our house. Do not use these people. If you do, you will regret it, as we do every day."

We offer all kinds of contracting work, for residential and commercial customers. It can range from landscaping to remodeling.

"BJCO was very difficult to work with and I am still not sure why Blair Jones would execute a job so poorly. I hired an architect and engineer and a decorator to facilitate success but Bjco does whatever he feels like once he has your deposit and “his contract “. For example my closet doesn’t look like my architectural drawings at all. He worked at my house for a year and he subcontractor (Todd the wood shop ) drops off some white library looking shelves with nonstandard hanger bars that make clothes extend beyond where they should. We had to fight to get standard closet hanger bars. I also hired him to paint my kitchen cabinets with high gloss and restoration of my O’Neil Ford originally built in bookcase ( I was given the choice paint ($)or restoration $$$$). They proceeded to lose some of my O’Neil Ford bookshelves and confused kitchen shelves with bookshelves, creating a lot of work for me. I also asked that my Andersen Patio sliding doors be installed per manufacturers instructions and that didn’t happen. They were installed on Saturday with me as the only supervisor while I tried to get a hold of Blair. ( no luck) It was working with someone who was passively aggressively mean to me, doing the opposite of what I said ( spraying paint with texture when I said no texture, level 5). He tried using Sherwin Williams paint when I specifically asked for Benjamin Moore and paid extra- he learned quickly they are different colors even with color match. He put in cheap insulation when I asked for foam and I had to go every day I could because of the mistakes/deceptions. I had to stand in front of wall and block men from trying to talk me into leaving a moldy shower inside a wall and cover with foam and drywall. Blair Jones also considers every mistake of his a “ change order” so beware of that. He also didn’t pay the electrician on my job but he did pay the tile man who refused to correct his errors. ( refuse?) He paid the cabinets man and I have 3 shelves too short , improperly drilled holes in cabinets ( too big) , a bathroom cabinet that is not what I ordered and was dropped 3 times during delivery, and drawer problems. I also have 5 split hinges ( he fixed 4) in the kitchen, a hole in the laundry room floor ( he was going to leave a live drain In my closet ?- luckily I was able to talk to the plumbers and fix that ) but he threw out the wood hole. Bjco also threw in the trash much of the hardware to my Andersen windows screen doors ( because no supervision a lot of dumb things happen). I’m still trying to track down all the parts myself to fix the screen doors that occasionally fall off the house. It was a horrible experience and I wish I had never met Blair Jones. He is also so gutless he runs away from his mistakes and stiffs other people/businesses with his tab."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Hiring a professional wallpaper hanger is usually a worthwhile idea because, while the application of wallpaper itself is easy, getting the finished product to look good is complicated and takes a lot of practice and patience. A professional wallpaper hanger will not only be able to hang your wallpaper seamlessly, but they will also get an even application of wallpaper paste to avoid bubbling and imperfections immediately and over time. Plus, they can provide their professional opinion on whether to remove or wallpaper over an existing layer of wallpaper.

No, you don’t always have to remove old wallpaper before applying a new layer. However, you should pull off the existing wallpaper if it’s cracked, peeling, or in poor condition. We’d also recommend against putting wallpaper over textured or dark-colored wallpaper because the old layer may be visible through the new one. In addition, if you try to hang new wallpaper over vinyl-coated wallpaper, the adhesive might not stick properly.

Yes, many services include minor wall preparation, such as patching holes or smoothing surfaces. Confirm with your provider.

No. If you overlap seams, the wallpaper will not come out flat. In addition to possibly throwing off your pattern match between rolls, overlapping seems necessary. If wallpaper is properly acclimated, and temperature and moisture conditions are optimal during installation, there is no reason to fear shrinkage as it dries.

While some people are confident in their ability to replace concrete by drilling out the broken pieces and replacing them with bagged concrete, it’s possible to run into snags that make hiring a professional worth it. Trying to level concrete slabs can require special equipment, which can be pricey to rent and tough to operate. It's also crucial to contact your town's municipal office to ensure you are allowed to take on the project without a permit.
