The modern suburban and small town home of today has become an ideal lightning target. The home owner would do well to recognize lightning for the destructive force that it is and protect against this major life and fire hazard. Donohue's Lightning Rods is based in Missouri, near the factory where most of the residential and commercial lightning rod supplies are manufactured. Jim travels regularly to Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New York. Call today to find out when Jim will be in your area. For installations outside Missouri, Kansas, or Texas, Jim waits until there are a few customers lined up, thus being able to provide the same quality services at affordable prices. **WE DO NOT DO ELECTRICAL SERVICES.** (ONLY LIGHTNING RODS)

"We were contacted immediately regarding adding a lightning protection system on our home. Seamus was very thorough and knowledgeable regarding our concerns. He and his crew showed up and were very professional and efficient. We are very pleased with the installation and highly recommend Donahue’s."

Hello, allow me to help you get back on track. I am the owner of my business and my father works with me to keep me focused and my feet on the ground. I’ve been in the remodeling business for eight years. I’ve worked for Majestic Homes, Qaulity Home Builders, DAD Electric Services and have learned a lot from these business. I provide general remodel services, as well as contract work. I am registered through the city for contract purposes. We do basic electrical services as well as ability to upgrading panel services to outlets, fixtures, decks, ect. We can also lay tile, build walk in showers, lay laminated flooring, repair/install drywall. We also have hassle and mess free popcorn ceilings removal. We also do texture, paint, and removal/installation of trim. We are able to place roll insulation if your roof is leaking, as well as make repairs to existing roofs. Of course we install new roofs as well, metal and shingles. We do such with attention to detail and excellent rapport between the homeowners and myself. This insures quality work that you can be happy you’ve commissioned. With reasonable estimates.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Outdoor outlets should be at least 15-amp, but preferably 20-amp. The exact rating will depend on the electrical load of the devices that will be plugged into the outlet and the capacity of the circuit. It's important not to overload the circuit, which can cause safety hazards such as tripped breakers or electrical fires. In general, a circuit rated for at least 20 amps is recommended for outdoor outlets, while each outlet should be rated for at least 15 amps.

A faulty light switch can be a serious fire hazard. Light switches with exposed wiring, loose connections, or other electrical problems can cause overheating or sparking in or behind the switch, igniting nearby flammable material. If you suspect your light switch is faulty, turn off power at the breaker and contact an electrician.

Yes, gas dryers still need electricity. While their heating system relies solely on natural gas to produce the heat that dries your clothes, gas dryers use electricity to power the lights and display screens on their interface, turn on the drum, and power any automatic moisture sensors inside the unit.

You can certainly talk with electricians about pricing, but the pro has the first and last word on what they charge. If you feel like a quote is too expensive, you can discuss the quotes that other electricians have made and see if they’ll lower their estimate in return. Or you may be able to talk about specific parts of the estimate and how they can be changed.

No, this is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and you should never attempt it. If you connect your generator to your home without a transfer switch, the generated power can backfeed, essentially flowing back into the utility lines. Backfeeding exposes a significant threat of fatalities or harm to you and utility personnel, in addition to jeopardizing the structural integrity of your home.
