"The owners of Bella Maison (B-M), Ruth & Jacques, and their project manager, Joel, provided EXCELLENT SERVICE during the holidays and extreme weather.  They focused on our needs to try and finish the smoke restoration project as fast as possible during the 39 days we had to be out of our home.  Joel and his team of cleaners worked well together and were very accommodating to our requests regarding our concerns on cleaning, packing, and the environment since our house was built green.  They used the garage for a staging/storage area and did their best to keep the house clean of trash during the project.    Overall, not just good, but GREAT!!
B-M took pictures of, itemized, packed & relocated by trailer all large & small furniture, furnishings, multiple oriental carpets, and clothes to their nearby warehouse for cleaning & smoke odor removal by ozonation in a sealed room.  Cleaned soot from all interior walls, ceilings, tile floors, wood doors & cabinetry, windows & glass block, ceiling fans using specialty dry chemical sponges at least twice.  Removed remaining soot & smoke smell from all interior house surfaces including stone fireplace (interior & exterior plus folding glass enclosure) and kitchen counter, and soapstone counter tops w/chemical wash (at least twice) & an extended ozonation of house & attic (at least a week).  Cleaned & packed all electronics equipment including computers.  Washed & dried by hand, and replaced in proper location all dishes, utensils, and personal treasures not relocated to warehouse.  Disconnected and relocated clothes washer & dryer from laundry room to garage.  Cleaned & removed two flat panel televisions & supports from walls.  Removed & cleaned five surround system speakers from ceiling.  Removed all air duct grates, cleaned & repainted at warehouse.  Steam cleaned & sealed tile floors & grout for entire house (no carpets).  Coordinated the professional laundry cleaning of all our clothes.  After work completed by third party paint contractor, B-M returned from warehouse all cleaned large & small furniture, boxed furnishings, oriental carpets, electronics and clothes to their respective rooms or closets.  Reinstalled all cleaned light bulbs, air duct grates and clothes washer & dryer.  Reinstalled the supports and two flat panel televisions on walls.  Attempted to clean smoke/soot-damaged window shades.
In addition to their smoke restoration services, we had Joel coordinate with the insurer's field inspector, interview & recommend a local painting contractor, and coordinate with & provide support for the geothermal air conditioning system by removing all flex duct for geothermal & ERV systems & providing measurements for replacement & installation by geothermal system warranty service providers.  All shades for windows & sliding glass doors were removed and replaced by a third party local vendor.

Floor Polishers questions, answered by experts

Most DIY floor cleaners don’t require rinsing, but you’ll want to make sure you don’t add too much dish soap or oil to the cleaner to avoid having to rinse it after cleaning. For non-wood floors, mix 8 parts warm water, 1 part vinegar, and 1 part baking soda with a few drops of dish soap. For wood floors, use olive oil in that same mixture instead of the vinegar. You can let these solutions air-dry after cleaning your floors with them, although you should manually dry your floors if they aren’t waterproof.

The best solution for mopping floors depends on the type of floor you have, but a good all-around or multi-purpose DIY floor cleaner is 2 cups of warm water, 5 to 10 drops of liquid dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. This is safe to use on tile, laminate, wood, polished concrete, vinyl, and more, as it’s relatively neutral and lacks caustic and abrasive chemicals that could be harmful to children and pets. You can also use a multi-purpose commercial cleaner, but make sure to follow the directions for safety.

Wood floors should be polished every two to four months to maintain a shine and to keep them protected from daily wear and tear. More frequent maintenance includes dry mopping the floors daily and cleaning spills immediately, using a spray mop and cleaner weekly to remove any built up dirt or grime, and sanding and refinishing the floors every three to five years.

Sweep daily, use appropriate cleaners, and avoid abrasive tools to maintain the shine.

You can embrace minimalism when it comes to cleaning vinyl plank flooring. Water or diluted vinegar both work great for mopping and are much better options than some other cleaners that can damage the protective coating on these floors. Ammonia or solvent-based polishes can both break down the top layer. Also, avoid “mop-and-shine” cleaners, which tend to leave behind residue on vinyl plank floors.
