Customers say: True professional

"RCU was just the contractor I needed to completely renovate my home. They were able to do all the work from plumbing, electrical, floor installation, tile floor & shower, install and paint new cabinets, move windows and exterior repair. Robert is extremely quality focused and thorough. He and his crew showed up every day and made sure that every detail was right. I’m so grateful that we found RCU through Angi."

"Contacted them to replace ductwork in an older home . All. Of the original duct work needed replaced . They recommended adding four more drops ,which I agreed to. When they ran into issues with the ceiling construction . The moved three vents and left three holes in my ceiling. And charged me for 13 drops . But only installed 9. I reached out to them before posting and they said they felt extra $1500 was justified."

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

If you’re replacing an interior door, it’s best to get the work done in the summer or winter, as door installation professionals are the least busy during these seasons and might charge lower labor costs based on the decreased demand. You can also potentially save money by hiring a professional to install your exterior door during these seasons, but most homeowners wait until the spring or fall so that the extreme temperatures don’t put added strain on their HVAC systems while the door is being added or replaced.

A screen door needs at least two hinges, though most have three or four hinges. The amount of hinges depends on the weight and size of the door. The heavier your door, the more hinges it will need for support. Exterior doors, which are sturdier than interior doors, have the most hinges.

The average cost to install a door is around $1,100, but you could pay anywhere from $150 for a hollow-core interior door installation up to $2,000 or a high-end exterior door installation. There are a few cost factors to consider to get an accurate price, including whether your wall opening exists, the type of door, the quality and security of the door, whether you need to replace the frame, and the door size. You can expect to pay $150 to $700 for a standard 36-by-80-inch door and between $400 and $1,600 for an 80-by-48-inch door.

No, a storm door should not replace a regular door. It lacks the durability, insulation, and security of a proper exterior door. Most storm doors have lightweight frames and minimal locking hardware, and they aren’t meant to stand alone. While they work well as a backup to your main entry door, relying on one as your only barrier would likely lead to drafts, higher energy bills, and safety concerns.

If you’re installing hurricane ties, consider other storm-proofing projects. You could call a window pro to install storm windows, get in touch with a door installer to add storm doors, or just ask your hurricane tie installer what other projects they’d recommend you get done at the same time.
